No...I didn't....the tech tested it while I was in the office with the doctor. Sorry...and yes, Starlette...you should be able to request a machine check next time. A neat little service....might as well....I don't know about ya'll...but the copay for my sleep doc is $40. I try to get my money's worth!Perrybucsdad wrote: Did you see how he tested the pressure? The reason I ask is I have a manometer that measures air pressure, but just not sure where & how the hook it up to test. Do they seal the end? Do they just attach the mask and have a Tee connector coming off that allows air to come out to be measured. Just curious. - John
When is it time to order a new machine?

If you check your User's Manual it tells you to take your CPAP in once a year to your local DME provider for maintenance. That's the time and they are the people to check the pressure output on your CPAP. Not all sleep doctor's have that capability nor the staff to check pressure output.

From the pictures I have seen it is hooked up with a closed end, so that all effort goes into the manometer. No other objects were attached like masks.
Good Luck!

Easy. On my CPAP birthday of coursePerrybucsdad wrote:So I guess the magic question is do you remember when you received the machine?
I'm allowed a new machine every 3 years and I'm assuming that includes the humidifier too.
I do not see any reason to update my less than two year old S9 (purchased out of pocket) unless there is significant feature released on another machine. I already own a spare S8 CPAP machine.
I know some people would get a new machine and flip it on craigslist or somewhere else for a profit but thats not me.

Re: When is it time to order a new machine?
It's a really good idea to get a fully data capable machine if you don't already have one. Especially if your old machine doesn't record all the data, including flow waveforms. It's so much easier to manage your treatment if you have access to a "micro" sleep study every night.
PRS1 Pro or Auto and S9 Elite and AutoSet will work with the free SleepyHead program to display your data. SleepyHead is in the process of development, so there may be some bugs, but it works great in general.
If you can't afford a new machine, it's worth keeping an eye out for a cheap backup machine. Craigslist, friends who gave up on CPAP, yard sales, etc. Even if you get just an ancient dataless brick, it beats the heck out of a night without CPAP.
