S9 Users

Post by Sheriff Buford » Mon Oct 03, 2011 5:48 am

Since I received my S9 autoset last April, I have never used my humidifier (H51). Because of the change of weather, I'm plugged up, I unpacked the humidifier and have been using it the last few days.

Question: how do I know the ClimateLine (heated-hose) hose is working? During the night, the hose is not hot. I figure that's normal. This morning, my room was cool and when I took my mask off, I could tell the the air in the mask was heated.

Any comments?

Sheriff

Sheriff, if it is like the warming plate in the humidifier, it will not be hot... I would guess that as long as you are not getting condensation in the line, it should be working.

Also, I would think the internal circuitry would note something if it wasn't. I don't know that to be the case, but that would be a thought I would have.

Sheriff,
The climate line does not get hot. I have mine cranked up to 86%. Good you could feel the heated air. Guess you feel better too?

I have one nostril semi-plugged and when I get hayfever, the other one plugs. With my mask, I may have a touch of fobia... so the humidifier helps with the hayfever. I really didn't need it last night, but used it anyway. I was a little-less dry this morning. As a sorta lazy-sort, I don't use the humidifier, so I don't have to mess with water... cleaning the hose etc...

I tried to lower the humidity one night and my nasal passages were so dry they were burning.

I had my hose get warm one time in mid winter. Other than that it hasn't or that is I haven't noticed it being warm. What works good for me is a setting of 80.(This time of the year) I use a Quatro FF mask and no matter where I set the temperature , dry mouth attacks me. Biotene mouthwash helps.
When you insert the hose facing the front of the unit & turn the hose counter clockwise it locks and the screen says climate control enabled. This allows you to choose a temperature between 60F. and 86F. A good sign of it working properly is the water level going down. In the morning after I shut it off and return 5 to 10 minutes later the water container is cooled down.

But the water level not going down doesn't mean it's not working. It only uses what it needs and that may be very little.

All true, my climateline never got hot to the touch, but I did find it was providing great humidity and proper air temp. Unfortunately, it decided to develop a loose connection and ended up being not a great system - but ResMed is working on that and my have already fixed it =)
