Jamis: why do you say that?
I've attempted to use the mask but I take it off in my sleep.
I have enough problems with this disease

No Dude, not accusing you of lying. It's just that you come off as a whiny "Woe is me" sort of guy when the problem is right in front of you.Sickwithapnea17 wrote: Jamis: why do you say that?

Put a chin-strap on on top of the mask or tape it to your damn head if you have to. You aren't the only person to ever have that problem...but you are the only user on this forum to start a dozen threads whining about it.
I don't mean to jump on you. Maybe this is just your personality and the way you deal with life. But my gut response is that you're putting all your effort into whining about your problems and very little effort into fixing the issue and actually experiencing treatment.

Re: Terrible memory problems, can't concentrate
I've been using CPAP (and then BiPAP) for nearly a year now and also kept pulling my mask off in my sleep. People here gave me good advice about various ways to deal with that bad habit. The solution for me turned out to be a roll of medical paper tape. I put a short length (about 2") across the side strap of my headgear. It's so short that it doesn't bother me, and it comes off in the morning without doing any damage to my face. It's sticky enough, though, that it pulls just a bit when I remove it. Avoiding that bit of pull made me quit taking the mask off in my sleep even though it wasn't enough to even wake me up in the night. I taped for a couple of weeks. Then I decided to see if I had broken the bad habit, and I had. Now I'm sleeping without taking the mask off, and I'm not taping anything anymore either. My AHI is down under 3. I'm dreaming. Most mornings I'm waking up feeling alert in a way that I haven't since I was a child. And my memory is a bit better and seems to be improving.
Give using a little tape for awhile a try. It might work for you too. And hang in there. I didn't have an easy, or even an average, adjustment to apnea therapy, but I got there. Being successful in the end is all that matters.

Well, that wouldn't make me feel better!jamiswolf wrote:How do you know that you couldn't? You don't keep your mask on so you've never really experienced good treatment. I'm rather tired of all your self pity and non-compliance.
There I said it...now at least I feel better...Jamis
This person is obviously scared and posting here for support. She may be trying to be compliant but having a very difficult time. What you said isn't helpful in the least!
There I said it... and now I feel better!

I assumed Sickwithapnea17 was a guy...though my advice/admonishment would have been the same.ems wrote: What you said isn't helpful in the least!
My posts were meant in to be a little scolding. Complaining and making constant excuses about why you can't follow peoples advice...well it's a waste of time for everyone.
So ems, both of us feel good. That's something, isn't it?

Re: Terrible memory problems, can't concentrate
I've been using bipap every night for months and I still have these memory problems and chronic fatigue. It's like 1.5 years ago my energy suddenly fell and I had these sleeping problems. now when I don't use bipap it's more severe, I get a worse hot flash and feel even more stressed and tired and have heart pounding and headaches

I'm going to make a suggestion. I don't mean it as an insult or a slap in the face. But you should very seriously consider having a consultation with a Psychiatrist. There could be mental illness issues that are being overlooked by your regular Doctors.sickwithapnea17 wrote: I've been using bipap every night for months and I still have these memory problems and chronic fatigue. You don't own threads.sickwithapnea17 wrote:jamis wolf: please stop posting on my threads
who are you and why is it you attack me right when I am getting good advice to fix my health?
You have had lots of advice which you have ignored and people are calling you on it. If sweet things don't get your ass moving then maybe a swift kick will help.

Re: Terrible memory problems, can't concentrate
I'm sorry you feel that way. I meant my suggestion very seriously. Many of the symptoms you're having could very easily be attributed to a co-existing mental illness. For example, a serious depression could cause poor sleep, poor mental focus. and memory problems.sickwithapnea17 wrote: I'm not sure why jamis is using my thread to attack me?
But I was being unrealistic to think that you would ever follow up on my suggestion.
Best of luck in your misguided search for assistance...

Re: Terrible memory problems, can't concentrate
i've been advising that they be under the care of a doc (rather than changing their own settings)... as it appears that every time something is said as to a possibility they change it no matter when the last change was made.

I change the settings because the high pressure wakes me up- maybe it takes time to get used to? anyway it seems you need the high pressure to knock out the central apneas
you know I've tried talking to my pulmonolgist about this and I had 3 sleep studies but I still have problems with ca even though I don't think I have brain damage- I just have this cyst that is growing slowly in my clivus

Re: Terrible memory problems, can't concentrate
News flash, try listening to your pulmonary doc.
Secondly, you don't need high pressure to overcome the centrals. In fact, pressure doesn't help them at all.
Thirdly, there is a reason that many of the larger hospitals have psychologists as sleep doctors. It's the chicken and the egg thing. Did the sleep apnea cause the psychosis, or did the psychosis cause the sleep issues?
Lastly, don't take any of my advice because the answers are not what you are shopping for.
