Thanks for the responses. I guess I should have been a bit more specific, but I fingured that since I mentioned I was working with clinical and neuro psychologist the direction of focus was kind of implied.
One thing that interested me is how sleep apnea (or sleep disorders in general) impact cognition and working memory capacity. Much of that has already been documented but I would like to look at some of the specifics of working memory and rather treatment alone improves working memory or would it be advisable to incorporate some sort of therapy in improve it. I'm sure memory issues is one thing we can all relate to and sleep apnea has been shown to cause damage to the parts of the brain involving memory.
I honestly believe that if people struggling to adjust to cpap took one look at the data showing how sleep apnea damages the brain they would think twice before giving up.
Someone mentioned the idea of using meditation cd's to help people adjust to cpap. I love that idea and considering I'm also wanting to research how mindfulness meditation improves working memory capacity that fits perfectly with the direction I'm wanting to go. I've read research on personality correlates that improve cpap compliance, but not much on ways to intervene. Since mindfulness mediation has already been shown to increase working memory capacity AND if it turned out that mindfulness mediation also increased cpap compliance you could kill two birds with one stone.
