Cats and tubing

Does anyone else have trouble with their cats being intrigued by the tubing? Our cat used to love my husband's O2 cannula but now finds my CPAP tubing much more fascinating. How do you keep your cats away?

With an intrigued cat....you don't.

You need a tube cover to prevent those little claws from making swiss cheese out of your tube.

I have a YouTube video about how to make one yourself. They are sold, but why buy one when you can save some money? Am I the only cheap one here?

It's easy to do, but to write it out here would actually be painful for me. :^)

I made a polar fleece cover for mine after the first hose ended up with 1001 holes. She walked on it, slid off and dug her claws in to keep from slipping. Now no more slipping.

We keep the bedroom door closed.

Three cats and no problems. Train your kids!

My cat used to sleep with me...but once I went on CPAP, he won't go anywhere near the bed when the machine is on.

He's very aware of when I wake enough to turn off the machine, and hops up for lots of lovin'.

But I think to him, the tube is just part of that noisy monster that keeps him from curling up behind my knees at night!

Buy a Dog instead.
Our Dogs seem to be too afraid of the Mask's and hoses when their in use, so they stay off the bed at nights.

We have two dogs as well as the cats. One cat never bothers a thing the other cat is a terror on things. I trained them the same so one is obviously the rebel of the family. Our two dogs never even pay attention to it unless it comes off during the night and then the dachshund has a barking fit. He's my leak alarm!!!! ResMed ought to try giving one away with every machine sold.

When I first got my CPAP I was warned that I might have a problem with my cats wanting to play with the hose, but none of them showed any interest in it. (I did have one cat who liked to chew on the power cord, however.)

Then after I moved to NC I acquired two kittens, and one day I noticed that there were a number of small holes in the hose. I ordered a new one, and fortunately didn't have any further problems. Except for one cat who liked to sit on top of my CPAP, and managed to turn it on a few times.

Neither of my cats is particularly interested in the hose, either with or without the hose cover. The one that sleeps next to my head has just curls up on it if it is where she wants to be. (I move her or it if I am awake and notice) Do you think that the vibration from purring might be picked up as snoring? I thought they might be bothered by the whole thing, but even the exhaust doesn't bother them.

I have 5 cats and feel fortunate that none of them show any interest in my machines. I think the noise the oxygen concentrator makes has served as a deterrent to most of them. I have one that sometimes tries to get on top of everything to get to the bed, but we can usually "convince" him to leave.

I've never had any of them damage my hose, but I do have hose covers and use them year round.

We have three cats and two dogs and we just keep them out of the bedroom. Oh, I hear you already saying"but I can't do that" then I guess you need to keep your hose out of their reach during the day when you are not using it, My Brother in law had his facemask and tube destroyed by his pets and had to come up with the cash for a new set because his insurance said it was too soon for a new one.

Not sure what else to tell you.

The door is closed until all our furry roommates can behave--all the time!
The alternative is just too expensive.

Last night I woke with my cat trying to pull my mask off my head. Maybe she thinks I'm being attacked.

We have 3 cats and none have show any interest in the hose, there strictly indoor cats and front claws have been removed. The youngest is 10. I know some don't like removing front claws but if there strictly indoor cats it saves on the furniture and door facings.
