Has anyone used the Mirage Liberty? What was your experience? Bad or Good.
Thanks
Mirage Liberty?
Re: Mirage Liberty?
I have been using the quattro FX and I really like it. However I have wanted to try out the Liberty or the Hybrid because of the smaller size and just to have something different. I am overdue for a new mask and so yesterday I stopped by the DME and picked up a Liberty. I have 30 days to try it out (and you should too) so I'll keep you posted on how it goes. I think it's another mask that people either really like or really hate. I am certainly going to try it for a week or so before I make any decision.
In my sleep study titration the sleep tech started me out on a liberty and e it made me feel totally crazy and claustrophobic. Now that I am 10 mos into xpap and comfortable with my FX I am interested in trying out the liberty. I am not sure it's the mask for me but I cant get the Hybrid though my DME and if I buy it online my insurance wont cover it so it's worth a try.

Re: Mirage Liberty?
I use the Liberty. My biggest issue two issues are cleaning and the length of the stalks from the mouth region to the nasal pillows.
The first issue, cleaning, is that the mask seem more prone to being affected when its washed. I was recommended to use as 1 to 3 water to vinegar mix for 10 minutes as a disinfectant. This is harsh on all masks, but most seem to take it a handful of times before I'm able re-order a new mask. This one will be affected in a way that hurts its ability to seal after just one time.
In fact, I once had left the mask too long in a mild solution of a gentle shampoo, and it was affected. It still worked by I had to tighten it down.
There's just something about these materials that make it wear out with cleaners.
The other issue is somewhat specific to my face. I have a long distance between my mouth and the bottom of my nose. So the stalks just barely help the pillows reach my nose. So I don't have a lot of sealing force with the pillows and they tend to be prone to leaking if they aren't positioned just right. In fact nose hairs pushing back will affect the seal and I need to keep them trimmed. (sorry TMI).
I also have to shave around the mouth to guarantee a good mouth seal. I can get away without that usually on most masks most of the time.
All that being said, I have a difficult facial contour to seal, and this seems to be the best fit overall. I'd be in trouble without it.
