Mysterious Posts
viewtopic.php?p=61223#61223
Does anyone else also find something very strange about these posts that keep appearing on this site that are "complimentary" to the site, but seem to be hiding a deeper message within? They are definitely not legitimate posts, IMHO. I don't know if I'm the only one who is seeing this. There was a thread that had like seven of these in a row with different user names. Wonder what this site is REALLY being used for with these entries...whatever it is, I don't think it's related to cpap and helping others.

Lori,
They seem spooky to me
...Maybe since GW is bugging the phones, the terrorists are using the forum to communicate in code.
Let's hope that our cpaps are not all set to "blow up" at the same time... talk about bad aerophagia!
You are right to be a little suspicious.

From the above link:
Most interestingly the links in these comments include a novel attribute:
rel=”itsok”
My guess is this is to allow them to track which weblogs have allowed their faux-innocuous comments past moderation and spam filters. Then they’ll know who is really worth spamming.
My own quick check of Google only got four hits one of which was a webmaster wondering what the heck was going on.

Wading,
Am I crazy or what? If you notice, one of the later posts in that same thread has the word "rape" in it, another says "when Boy Kill Circle Create" and "Coolblooded Soldier," and "when Mistery is Tournament it will Anticipate Tournament</a> , Make Destroy Rape - that is all that Girl is capable of."
I'm sorry, but this seems a bit, to use your word, "spooky" to me. It's talking in code and using this site to pass on info of some type, in my suspicious mind at least. Creeps me out.

That is the same thing that happened with the last thread they did, with no "attention/encouragement" given. I don't believe that is as a result of this thread at all. Plus, this is seemingly not one person, unless they've registered under various names and like to talk to themselves.Anonymous wrote:In the time since we've acknowledged them, the postings have increased dramatically. Suggest no more attention/encouragement is given to this spammer by continuing to discuss it.
I have nothing further to say on this, anyway. I've made my feelings clear enough.

Lori,
In my experience spammers use random words in their text as patterns that attempt to fool spam killers (i.e. my filter is Spam Assassin).
I used to get the occasional email through my spam filter & they usually had a bunch of random words - when I asked the experts in our org about this it was explained that in email parlance the random words are like tinfoil strips to radar - they confuse the detection system & the intruder gets through.
Also to me, they represent a good reason why we need some better way of handling anon posts.
I believe that a rule set something like ...
1) Anons or unregistered guests can post in one section that is set up
to allow them to ask questions related to xPAP
2) That registered users can offer assistance to the question askers
3) Anons & Guests can read all the other areas
4) That if there isn't a segregated posting area for anons, then at least registered users get a facility to select to ignore anon/guests but this would require some better mechanism for us to remain logged in & avoid the 'oops I got guested again' problem.
Cheers

Were the two messages that I didn't understand in Fern's "I give up" thread the same type of messages you guys are talking about?
It is a little scary if someone is using this site to communicate in code. However, why would they do so in a public forum with a bunch of folks who are clearly paying attention? More likely some kind of spam stuff (I hope)
