New User - still experiencing sleepiness
I have been using my CPAP machine for about a week now. I have mild sleep apnea, but was very symptomatic. I am adjusting pretty quickly to the machine itself and wearing the mask at night. However, I am still feeling sleepy when I wake up in the morning and throughout the day, as I did before I started using the machine. I am curious to know from others when they started to "feel" less sleepy. My sister also uses a CPAP machine and told me, that for her, it was life-altering almost immediately. I am committed to the therapy and will continue to use it, but, want to know it will be worth it in the end. Thanks.

It takes time. Some folks experience immediate results, some it takes a while. KEEP GOING!!! I bet a year from now you will be so thankful for your persistence. Be "sensitive" to your health of your body's response to therapy.

Welcome to the forum. Please register and then add your equipment to your profile.
If we can figure out what machine you are using hopefully it will have full data available so you can use some software to make sure that your therapy is optimal and not needing improvement.
Your sister was actually one of the lucky ones. Most people don't see marked improvement immediately. Most of us needed much more time and improvement was very gradual.

My response to cpap has been very gradual also. I did not have an overnight improvement even with 100% compliance. Stick with it.

Re: New User - still experiencing sleepiness
The luckiest few (very few) see overnight results. Most of us, as already mentioned, take some time. Sometimes you start off well, hit a wall and have to get through it. I've been on 3 months and it's taking its time to really feel better however I am far better off than I was without it. Hang in there and just be committed to staying on therapy. Monitor your software as well. (And register as a user here and list your equipment because that can be helpful when you have other questions).
Good luck!
Good luck!
Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

I'm about 4 weeks into PAPpy, and am finally seeing some improvement. I have more energy in the morning, but I crash about 4 pm. Each of us is different. Our experiences will be different with therapy. But, there is enough similarity among us that you can get some good information and insight from the folks here.

I still feel sleep after lunch and after dinner. Perhaps quite normal. My problem besides OSA is insomnia. I try to avoid taking drugs but sometimes I have to.
