Oral Mask - Oracle

Post by robertpstone » Thu Feb 02, 2006 2:25 pm

Has anyone tried the new Oracle oral mask. I use a full-face mask because I breathe through my mouth and am wondering if this mask might be better.

Use the search function for the Oracle and you'll find lots of previous posts on this mask.

I can add that the repeated consensus of the *majority* who have tried the Oracle and posted here in 2005, is that it doesn't achieve the desired goals.

I have only ever seen one post where someone claimed it was good for them over a period of time.

It is a difficult mask to use - one of the biggest complaints for people on higher cms is the nose plugs blowing out during the night (yep, you have to plug your nose up with nose plugs).

Good luck if you decide to try it out.

Cheers DSM

PS Speaking for myself, I have been a consistent mouth breather. Some months back I switched to a BiLevel and a week ago to a nasal pillow mask I had previously shelved due to mouth breathing problems. I am really enjoying the experience of no mouth pops, no serious leaks & squeaks, no aerophagia (a horror to put up with). Also I have an Oracle in a drawer but never seriously tried to use it - It was modified to see if it would make a good mouth plug but it was just too uncomfortable.

Oracle = Dry Mouth (for me)

I hated it. If you want, I'll sell you mine. It's brand new (used it for 2 hours), woke up with horrible dry mouth. It's now in my drawer of unused masks. Let me know if you want to buy mine.
