Distilled Water

Wondering how people are obtaining their water for their CPAP Humidifier. I know i'ts a dumb question. When I started the CPAP several years ago, I had a distiller that I used to get my water, till one day the distiller decieded to end it's life by exploding. Maybe my fault on that end of not taking care of the seals or what not. Due to busy life, I never had gone to replace the distiller and bought water from Wal-Mart. In lugging gallon of distilled water home and having to remember to pick up another one and having to use city water for awhile had become a pain. So now, I thinking of going back to getting a water distiller to obtain my own water.

I am wondering how are people obtaining and what kind if any water distiller they are using. So many are out there and wondering what is a good one to use. It has been a good 2 years since I have had one in my home. By now, in purchasing distilled water I could have gotten my own.

I find mine in the supermarket next to the spring water. I buy a few gallons at a time. If I had a distiller, I wouldn't be making water

at .89 a gallon I just buy mine at Kroger

Most of us don't dump it every night so it's not a big deal.

It was quite a bit cheaper five years ago, but I'd buy another just like it in a heartbeat, if I had to.

That would be interesting to know. Mine cost me $99. I know it's paid for itself by now, but the reason I bought it wasn't to save money. It was so I would be sure of exactly how pure it is.
There aren't too many other guarantees in life.

At $99 approx 112 gallons 99.00/.89=111.23595505617977528089887640449 gallons

Distilled water here is running around $1.35 gallon.

We only paid $20 for our distiller--it paid for itself in under a year.
If it dies, no replacement.
Considering the cost of a new distiller, it would have to last MANY years to break even.
Then there is the space it occupies.
We can buy distilled water at the store. No problem.

Space was mentioned but not the cost of electricity.

Quality of the water was mentioned - since I have no accumulation in my water tank, I think the quality is good.

I guess like anything else in life, it depends on where one's personal priorities are. I drink distilled, use it in my xpap, and I'm turning out a few gallons every day.
So for me, it's all good, and I don't care how much it costs.

I got my distiller in 1997 at sears for $99. It has lasted this long and it is in great shape. The roi has been met many years ago. The important thing is that the water is on hand in a few hours notice. Also in the winter, the distiller heats a room nicely.

One need not used distilled water, distilled bourbon works just as well. . .

Actually I seldom imbibe and don't care much for the bother of a humidifier either.

I am having some trouble finding the distilled water. Anyone else from Sydney know where to get it.
