Air leak around humidifier
Air leak around humidifier
Only been using my machine for three weeks but last night I noticed a significant amount of air coming out from around my humidifier. The leak stopped when I removed my mask but resumed when I put it back on. I'm concerned that there may be a loss of pressure that is effecting my therapy. Is this normal or something I need to bring up to my DME?

Re: Air leak around humidifier
Definitely not normal. Take it in to the DME and have them check it. They will either repair or replace the machine for free, since it's still under warranty.
Re: Air leak around humidifier
First, take out the water tank, empty it thoroughly, and wipe out the water so you don't risk getting water into your blower unit.
Then put it back in, turn it on, and plug the outlet with your thumb. Listen and see if you can find the leak. Take the humidifier tank out, and look inside the humidifier at the clear silicone connectors that connect the humidifier to the blower unit, and the two clear silicone connectors that connect the humidifier to the tank. One is in the lid of the humidifier.
You can easily remove the one in the lid. Actually, the lid comes off pretty easily, too if you look at it. The little elbow that the other two seals go on comes slides out if you depress a little tab in the back.
Obviously, don't exceed your mechanical reassembly skills. It's good to know how this all works in case you need to fix the machine yourself in the middle of the night. Or if you want to clean it thoroughly.
