electric adapters for travel with CPAP
electric adapters for travel with CPAP
I am traveling to Europe. France, Italy, Switzerland and Britain and I use a CPAP . What kind of adapter should I get to use my machine in all these countries Thanks you for yuor help.
Re: electric adapters for travel with CPAP
Most CPAP machines these days come with power supplies that will switch between 110/120 volts and work on 60/50 cycles, so, you probably only need the right plug adapter. (Check the power specs for your machine.) You can buy an assortment of plug adapters for $20 or so on Amazon or Ebay, or in Radio Shack, etc.

Re: electric adapters for travel with CPAP
Unless your machine is as old as the hills, you only need a plug adapter.
The following site Electricity around the world contains info about the current, and the plug types for each country:
http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm
Click on the letter links (A, C, etc.) to see the plugs and outlets.
You can get the adapters in the AAA I think.

Re: electric adapters for travel with CPAP
I would email the manufacturer, or have the DME contact the rep for your machine. Different countries may have different outlets, but I have never been out of the country. As Archangle requested, please fill in your machine infor for more precise advice.

Note that the power frequency varies, 50Hz is common in Europe and SW Japan for example.
Canada-US use 60Hz.
So you need to make sure your machine can tolerate 50Hz if you are likely to encounter that. Traditionally some devices in general could not, but many now do.

Re: electric adapters for travel with CPAP
You can get plug adapters at RadioShack / Best Buy. However, I also used Magellans for that:
http://www.magellans.com/
Check your user guide on your unit. It should tell you what it supports. For instance, my ASV unit (a really souped up BiLevel machine), says:
For instance, if I was going to the UK, I would use a UK specific plug:
http://www.magellans.com/store/Adaptors ... torsEA351C
Or, I could get a set of adapters, if I was going to travel to several countries:
http://www.magellans.com/store/Adaptors ... ptorsEA291
This power requirements for your unit should be listed under "Technical Specifications" toward the back of your user manual.
As has already been mentioned, you can call the support / help phone line for your manufacturer. They can almost certainly provide any additional assistance to help you make the trip as painless as possible.
Hope that helps.

As you can see, it works both in the US (110-120V AC) and in most of europe (220-240V). It supports both 50 and 60Hz frequencies. All that you need to do is to pick the correct plug adapter (not a voltage converter).Power supply
AC Input range: 110–120V and 220–240V; 50–60Hz; 60VA
