apnea events per hour
I have a DeVilbiss Intellipap with smartflex. Love it! My question is that the data it provides indicates that I do not have a problem with leaks or usage, but it shows that I experience 4 apnea events per hour. Also this is at a pressure of 18.5 95% of time and max (20) at 2% of time. This seems to be an exceeingly high number of events to me. I do not feel rested after 8 - 9 hours of sleep. I have been a cpap user for 3 years, but the intellipap is new. I would appreciate your opinions.

Re: apnea events per hour
AHI is the average number of apneas and hypopnes per hour. This number should be less than 10 while on an AutoAdjusting CPAP. The fact that you feel better is a good indicator that your therapy is indeed working.

DeVilbiss...he said after 8-9 hours he does NOT feel better. I figured if he was new at this it would not be unusual, but he's been at this for 3 years.DeVilbiss Marketing wrote:AHI is the average number of apneas and hypopnes per hour. Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

To add to DeVilbiss' comment, less than 10 is good, but just because it's less than 10 doesn't mean it is good. Length of an Apena matters too. This could be your problem since you mentioned you do NOT feel
better after therapy. Basically, 10 apneas per hour at 10 seconds is not as bad as 4 apneas per hour at 30 seconds. The latter scenario means you are suffocating longer. Personally, I'm not familiar with the DeVilbiss machines and as to whether or not you have the apnea length available to you.
Take a moment to fill out your equipment list in the user profile (as in my signature), this will help troubleshooting now and in the future.

I have one too and also love it. Wondering what your other machine was/is. The iPAP is pretty "tweakable," if that's a word, and it's possible to make adjustments that can make it behave differently, if you need/want to. I also have a Resmed S9 Autoset, and by setting the iRounding and eRounding to their maximum levels (5), the Intellipap feels just like my S9.groggyken wrote:I have a DeVilbiss Intellipap with smartflex.
