Remstar Pro II Error Code E-47

Post by JasperW » Sat Jan 28, 2006 11:29 pm

Help! My CPAP was acting really wierd this morning, the air pressure was going really high, then stopping for a while, then coming back on, then normal...it now flashes E-47 when i turn it on and it will not go away. I've tried unplugging it for 30 seconds, I've tried holding all the buttons down when I plug it in, i've tried removing the humidifier device, i've tried removing the card, nothing works!!! Help!

Is it possible some water got into it from the humidifier ?

yah, that's possible, in fact likely. A month ago or so my GF tipped it backwards w/ water in there, but it all seemed to come out...

is this fixable by like, turning it upside down or something? or do i just have to take it in?

If water got into a sensor line it will cause the problems you are describing.

Water can also find its way into the bearings in the motor and create rust then noise.

I am not sure if your model has the internal pressure sensor tube - the standard Remstar plus doesn't. If yours does then getting that water out asap is what is needed. Do you have someone you can take the unit to ?

Cheers

My Remstar Auto quit immediately when I got water into mine. I believe all Respironics units have to be returned to the original factory in Pennsylvania (I think it is). But they need an RGA to return them. And I think they only will deal with a DME.

I would contact whomever you got the unit from.

I was extremely fortunate. My unit was out of warranty, and the water was entirely my fault. I contacted my online DME, the company I purchased the unit from, and they sent me a rental unit overnight, with an RGA to send my unit to be repaired.

Two weeks later, I got my unit back. No Charge. Respironics replaced the mother board, and sent me a "water guard". The water guard is to help prevent a backwash of water into the machine (doesn't really seem like it works too well). I think they repaired it at no charge might be because it was designed wrong in the first place - kinda like a recall.

I didn't even have to pay for the rental or the overnight shipping charges - I was treated like a Queen.

Respironics rules.

Queen for a Day, Linda
