Opus 360 vs. Swift FX (for her)

Post by FizzyWater » Thu Aug 25, 2011 7:12 pm

I was given a Swift FX (for her) from my DME when I had problems with my nasal mask. Love it. The only problem I had with it was when I am congested from allergies.

I noticed that Amazon had the Opus 360 for around $50, and I heard so many good things about it here, I had to try it.

I like the Opus 360, but I think I'd do better with a size between their small and their medium. I wore it for 2 nights, and both nights woke up halfway through because of leakage.

So last night I figured I'd just use the Swift. And the breathing felt like the equivalent of sucking a McDonalds shake through a skinny straw!! I can't below how different it felt after the Opus 360.

I'm wondering if it's because of the dual walled chamber of the Swift FX pillow cutting down on the amount of air going through the holes. Anybody have any ideas why the Swift FX has the dual chamber - what value there is in them? I'm wondering if I just snipped those out....?

I might have to go back to the Opus, with some of that nipple goo everyone talks about here....

Oh, and while it may be a coincidence, I woke up SO TIRED today....

No, you can't just snip it out. To demonstrate, push in on the pillow tip until the inner wall inverts. Then try to use the machine and you'll see that it leaks like a sieve.

Try going up one size of nasal pillows on the swift. The larger the size, the bigger the holes delivering air.

Otherwise, I don't see why the Opus would be any better for nasal congestion-they are both nasal pillow masks and you need to be able to breathe through your nose.
