I was looking for CPAP replacement strap material to make my own (because retail replacements are so DAMNED expensive) when I stumbled across a site (800cpap) that was selling what I needed (straps for a Comfort Classic) for $13 + free shipping. Not worth my hassle to make my own for that price. The rest of their strap sets seemed to be closer to "market price" - so maybe there's just a deal on this particular setup. And no, I'm not a shill for the site. If you can beat $13 for the strap set, PLEASE let me know where!

I'm still going to look for the right material to make my own, but a new head gear will give me more time, since you really have to see the material in person to make sure it's the right stuff. I tried with regular elastic bands and found that is NOT the way to go. They stretch out too fast and are kind of a pain to work with.

Also, I found $10 strap sets on a chinese "ali" site (not a shill for them either), but didn't want to wait 3-4 weeks this time around. Might be worth checking out.

One thing that I've found interesting: You can buy CPAP masks without straps and you don't have to go through the "prescription cha-cha". And you can buy straps without a prescription. But the Federal Overlords, in their infinite wisdom, have decreed that you must have a prescription to buy a mask with straps! Frankly, there is NO REASON ANY CPAP EQUIPMENT SHOULD REQUIRE A PRESCRIPTION. The amount of pressure CPAP equipment, even at the highest settings, will put on your lungs is less than the pressure needed to inflate a child's party balloon (google: "Can a CPAP inflate a balloon ???"). So all the mumbo-jumbo of the thousand dollar sleep studies, the visits to the doctor to get your CPAP pressure level set, the requirements for prescriptions - they are just CRAP that your government is dumping on you to make your life more expensive. An estimated 18 million people have sleep apnea. The FDA probably kills thousands every year because they make the process of buying a CPAP machine (doctor's visit, sleep study, CPAP machine, supplies) cost thousands when it should cost less than $200.

Hope the info is helpful.

---But eliminate prescriptions for cpap supplies, and insurance will no longer cover it!
This is what happened with Claritin and Prilosec.
Do not pray too hard for what you want--you may just get it.
