AHI is rising HELP
i Have been using APAP for a few months now. Just had UPPP tonsillectomy and had Septoplasty, etc a year ago. My AHI is recently rising and would like some feedback on some of my data. Was wondering if i should try to go back to CPAP (where i started). When i was titrated they never found an ideal pressure for me. I started at 14, which blew me up like a balloon, went down to 12 which helped the bloating (at that time had no data from the cpap). Now i have been on apap and can see the results. Again should i try cpap at 10 or 11 given my data???? Any ideas as i am quite tired

If you go to User Ctl. Panel under the logo on the main page, click on Profile and then using text vs icons add the full names of your machine and mask, as well as your pressure range, etc. it'll automatically appear under your postings so we can see what you're using... makes it much easier to help you.
Re: AHI is rising HELP
I have spaced the info a little better and i tried to change my profile to reveal my equipment. I am on a remstar system one apap with a quattro mirage full face mask. Apap is set from 8-16. When i was had a sleep study they could not find an ideal setting for me. They got to 12 during the titration but that was not ideal, the Dr. recommended i start at 14 (which blew my up like a ballon). They then lowered me to 12 which helped a little. I then went to an apap which cured the gas issue but recently my ahi and software results are all over. Should i think about going back to cpap? Maybe try 10? Is the apap contributing to my hypopneas? I have not clue how to get this ahi under control. I am up for an ideas?
Thanks,

Re: AHI is rising HELP
Hi - Can you get the summary from your sleep study - the full report, not just the 1-2 pg summary, because that will tell you more about some of your results, such as whether or not you had centrals, or mostly hypopneas vs obstructive events, etc.?
I also wonder about your having had all that surgery... did you research any of it (e.g. the UPPP) prior to signing on? It can change the picture quite a bit for some people and, unfortunately, may seem to be a good thing for a while, but too often you can end up (within a year, not immediately) back where you were before having it done.

Re: AHI is rising HELP
Off hand I think that perhaps the minimum pressure is a bit to low but it would be best to see what one night looks like. When the minimum is too low it takes too long for the machine to raise the pressure to where it needs to be to prevent the events effectively. Need to give it a bit more of a head start. I started out with 8 cm APAP and was having around 10 AHI. When I worked my way to 10 cm minimum (max was 20) my AHI was reduced to 3 to 4.
It would be better if we could see one a single night detailed daily report. Just pick one that seems to be pretty much what you usually see.
Easiest way is to do a screen shot of the report.
Here is how I do it.
Open the image to full size so it is easily read.
I use Vista snipping tool to create a screen shot and crop the image at the same time.
Prt/scr key will also take a screen shot if using XP. If laptop is used sometimes the Fn key has to be pushed at the same time as the prt/scr key
I think windows 7 Home Premium has the snipping tool, Basic may not.
Once the screen shot is created save it in jpg format.
Upload the image to a host site. I use Photobucket it is free, there are others.
Once the image is uploaded then copy the ENTIRE IMG address. Be sure to include the opening and closing IMG in brackets. Paste that copied address into a post here.
Use the preview button. If you can't see the image try again because if you can't see it we can't.

Re: AHI is rising HELP
Thanks for the info its a great help. I will try to see if i have the ability to complete the technological feet and post a single night of data.
As for now i may try to set my min at 9 instead of 8 and see if that helps at all. I imaging i must try that for several nights to get a real idea? My 90% pressure is usually 10-11, sometimes a little less or a little more but most commonly 10-11.
Good Idea

Re: AHI is rising HELP
Yes. You can give 9 cm minimum as trial. Watch your reports (daily reports) you will know in 4 or 5 nights if it is helping. Sometimes just a seemingly small change makes a huge difference.Guest wrote:As for now i may try to set my min at 9 instead of 8 and see if that helps at all. Please do try to post the report. It helps us when we can see what you are seeing.

Re: AHI is rising HELP
I am not sure how to do the img start and stop thing. I just created one album on photobucket with the info you requested. I believe i can give you a link to it?
Lets give it a try
http://photobucket/csroy8014
I hope that will show you 5 days of reports and the summary. They may be a little out of order but the info is there. If it is easier to do the img thing let me know. I just dont understand what to type into the two sets of brackets?
Thanks a million!!

Re: AHI is rising HELP
When at photobucket you will see this box when you hover over one image

See the last line in that box? The line that starts with IMG brackets? Put mouse cursor over it and copy that entire address which will include the IMG box. Then right click mouse to paste it in a post here. Then the image shows up. When doing it this way you don't have to use the IMG or URL brackets on the forum editor. The IMG brackets are already included in the copy.

Above is one of your reports after I finally got the link to open. BTW yes, just a little more minimum pressure and see if it reduces those events.

Re: AHI is rising HELP
I sincerely appreciate all you help learning to use the message board and also with the APAP. I appears the wealth of knowledge here far exceeds the reactionary info i receive from my ENT DR. I know how to make changes on my machine so the trips to the DME seem senseless ( as long as i dont make drastic changes). I appreciate the feedback and will get back to you on the results of raising my min pressure from 8-9.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Re: AHI is rising HELP
I had my first night changing my minimum pressure from 8 to 9. Seemed a little better, do i have to give it several days at 9 before trying say 9.5 or 10 as a min?
Here it is below.
Thanks in advance
