The issues involved with wearing a pulse oximeter for extended periods of time involve pressure sores from the clamping pressure and a possible skin reaction to the cushion material used in the oximeter in the finger area. The pulse oximeter utilizes a red LED light and a UV LED light. I am not aware of any adverse reactions to those lights.
The clamping pressure sores are the most common problem. Changing fingers frequently seems to help with that.
