Forgot something. Sometimes my card reader won't read the card and I get a red light. It happened 4 times in a row the other morning and I was yelling for my hubby. The 5th time, I evidently got it seated better and got the green light. Naturally, he was standing behind me.

Moral of the story, try to get a good connection inside the reader. Go for the green

Linda, I have XP and what I meant was that Encore Pro installed OK, I checked the preferences and USB was checked. I then did Den's suggestion and IT WORKED!!! Found the yellow thingy, clicked on install and went back to Pro , put in my card, the green light came on and now I don't know how to transfer the card data . No surprise there! I am just happy that y'all got me this far. I've pretty much tapped myself out on the computer tonight. I'll spend time tomorrow morning and "explore" my options.

And, Den, I've had more fun at the dentist than doing this....

Awww, Bonnie, this is fun. It's just like solving riddles. Next time you see a 2 or 3 year old with a new toy, look at her - she doesn't think there's a right way to play - she just plays with it (which is why she recently banged a glass on the table, and smeared your face cream on the carpet. She learned a lot about the difference between glass and lotion while doing it).

Playing is fun.

High 5 Girl...

Before you download your card data, you should decide whether you want your card erased or not after it's read. I prefer to not erase. Supposedly, the card will write over the oldest data when the card gets full. I just find it's easier to get better reports out of Encore Pro if I don't erase. I don't think it makes a difference with MyEncore because it can easily combine multiple data downloads.

Here's what Den wrote if you don't want to erase data:

"Yes, there's a program/file in C:\Program Files\Respironics\Encore Pro\Utilities called "Don't erase data after download.reg". Do a double-click on it and it will come up with a confirmation box.....click "Yes" and that should keep your card from being automatically erased, but you will still have to tell the program not to erase the card after you download the data (when it prompts you). Or, it at least gives you the option of erasing it or not." (THANKS DEN).......

Me again. Next add your self as a patient in Encore Pro. It's hard to remember exactly all the screens (because I've already set myself up as a patient). After you add yourself as a patient, get the green light on your card and click on "Download Data" on the left side of the screen. Click on Smart Card Reader, and it should download. There are a couple of screens that pop up asking if you are a professional, and if the card will be returned to the patient, just say "yes" to both of those - if I remember right.

I'll run mine again tomorrow to refresh my memory - if you get stuck. If you get an error, be sure to write down what it is. You're going to have so much fun (once you get rid of the download and installation headache).

Linda

It is FINALLY loaded and running!! Tonight I downloaded data from November to current. WOW a lot of info there. As I've told Linda, I have a lot to learn now on how to read the data. But the main thing is with all your help it is working properly. Whoo hoo, my very special thanks!!!

Den, I think I'll like playing now, but I sure wish there was a kid in my neighborhood who'd come over to my house and teach me how to read....

Watch for a post next weekend on "What the heck do these numbers mean?"
