Resmed S9 not working (again)?

Post by madiganosu@yahoo.com » Sun Aug 07, 2011 10:14 am

I bought a Resmed S9 about two years ago and use it primarily on weekends (DeVilbiss to travel with - which works flawlessly).

I do not believe the humidifier works any longer - the light comes on but the unit does not seem to get hot.

I previously had a resmed machine that would quit working periodically, was told it was due to my traveling with it and not getting things dried out enough. Thought I would give Resmed on more try.

I had set the machine up as a APAP and beginning a couple of months ago I can't use the machine as it will keep building pressure until it blows the mask off and wakes me up.

How can I reset this machine and start over? Or is this a problem I am always going to have?

Also - is there a nice way to sort the posts by title?

Thank-you for your help.

Mike

If you take the tank out and start the warm up cycle, you should be able to hold your hand over the plate and feel heat after a short time. If you can't, I hope it's been a little less than two years so you can get it fixed under warranty.

If you travel with it again, dump the tank as soon as you get up, and then run the machine as you get ready to leave. The three minutes of the "mask fit" plus the cool down cycle is enough to dry mine at home, but I'm sure it will dry faster if you let the blower run full blast.

Hold down the setup button and the dial for three seconds. That will get you into the clinician's menu. If the maximum pressure is still set to 20 cm, I'd start by turning that down to 3 or 4 cm above your titrated cpap pressure. If the machine stays at the maximum pressure all night, you should have the machine and/or yourself checked out to find out what's changed.

It would probably be a good idea to write down all the settings while you're in the clinician's menu. Then you won't worry later about having accidentally changed something.
