Swift fx airflow issue

Post by HPM » Wed Aug 03, 2011 1:59 pm

I have been using the Swift fx for her size xs pillow. Thats the size my professional sized me at. Problem is I don't feel that I get enough air when I'm trying to get to sleep. My pressure is appropriate, as that has been checked. Once I get to sleep, its ok except if I wake up in the night, then I feel the same airflow restriction. When I use the size small pillow, I don't have that effect, but it tends to leak some and is too big. In previous years, I have used the ComfortLite nasal pillow mask, the one that sits on your head like a cap. I didn't have this issue but didn't like the permanent smushed hair-do it gave me. I do like the comfort/fit of the Swift fx but find I'm dreading putting it on at night. I resorted back to my comfort gel nasal mask for a night or two but didn't feel well at all in the morning. Has anyone else had this experience?

Yes, cflame, I have tried the Small and use it from time to time. The air flow feels fine with it but it leaks some and is mostly too big. I guess I'm in between the xs and s. I'm a "half size"! HPM

Hi, I have the same problems as you describe. I am using the small now but to keep it from leaking I tie a panty hose leg around it andtie around the back of my haed.
This holds it tight so it dosen't leak.
Hope this works for you.

Sister - that sounds like a good idea. I will try to figure out how to do it. By the way, do you have issues with your nose being stuffy and throat dry? I have increased my humidity setting but I run out of water around 4am. My machine is from 2006. I never had the stuffy nose problem till started using these nasal pillows. Every night, one side or the other will get totally blocked. I used Rx nose spray but it doesn't help much. Thanks

Hi, no I don't have stuffy nose at all,but I always have a dry throat when I wake up. I also have increased my humidity setting up and down but it doesn't seem to help a lot.I never run out of water though.
My machine is also from 2006,I'm waiting patiently to get a new one this November. It will be 5 years.
Sorry, don't know why you are having stuffy nose.I have severe allergies and lots of times when everything is running I can just get on the machine and it stops. Works different for everyone I guess.
good luck

I just got the swift fx for women. The resp therapist who fit my mask said that I have one nostril size small, and one xsmall. Too bad we can't customize our masks. I am using the xs because I felt the small moved around on my face too much. Too bad we can't customize our masks. . . .
