I was surprised and delighted this morning when my tech at Kaiser asked if I wanted to learn how to change the settings on my cpap, and quickly offered a copy from the pile of patient's info handouts.
Thanks to this forum, I long ago got a copy of the Respironics Provider Setup Guide. But I was really happy to see the
change in attitude.
They certainly aren't perfect, but Kaiser is really great at preventative health care, and they are a barometer of change for providers in general in the US.
ps They sell neti pots prominently on display for sale in the pharmacy at a very low price.
Kaiser gives handout to change settings
Re: Kaiser gives handout to change settings
Shhh.... they're probably already trying to track that technician down and have the rubber hoses at ready.araminta wrote:I was surprised and delighted this morning when my tech at Kaiser asked if I wanted to learn how to change the settings on my cpap, and quickly offered a copy from the pile of patient's info handouts.
Did they really hand you a description of how to get into the clinician's menu and change the pressure? Or just a handout of how to change the "patient adjustable" items?

Re: Kaiser gives handout to change settings
Love it!
Kaiser is all about self-care--sometimes it's not so appropriate, but for CPAP it makes total sense.
When I needed pressure adjustments (in the early days before I took over on my own), the Kaiser sleep lab RT did it--I don't think the doctor (whom I never saw anyway) was ever even consulted, although they probably have him sign off on any documented changes. Not strictly kosher, I'm sure, but I don't care as it made it a lot easier for ME.
I'm guessing it may be that all the Kaiser rx's (for autos at least) say something like "pressure set 4 - 20 or as needed for patient comfort".

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Kaiser gives handout to change settings
After I had my CPAP device for a couple of weeks, Kaiser had me wear a recording pulse ox device for the night. After reading the results, the RT called me and said that it was okay, but I was still showing apneas. He then walked me through the Clinicians Menu to raise the pressure. This was April of last year.
