exchanged the mask

Mirage FX

Bought a chin strap too.

The mask worked very well for me. The strap did not.

I know the Quattro will work for some. It did not work for me, and I did adjust it and put it on the way the ResMed video shows.

The support here is great.

By the way, the DME would not price match. Their cost? $350 Cdn. Internet? Canadian too--$179.99. No trials. No exchanges. At least my DME did. Thank Heaven!

Not enjoying the chin strap. It won't stay on.

Mask on second night was not as good as first night.

Follow up:

When cpap works, it's great. When it doesn't, it sucks. It's hard to be compliant. Wish all of us well with our mask and equipment choices.

I truly believe that service provided by people with cpap needs and experience is far more helpful than the norm. I wish I could find a DME here in Toronto Canada that has this eperience.

FWIW, I love this mask. It's the first one that doesn't leave a mark on my nose and fits comfortably. I tend to get leaks after about three-four months of use. The VA won't pay for a replacement cushion, so I may have to spring for a new cushion myself. The VA replaces masks every six months. I may try a Quietus CPAP Liner and see if that helps. It would be cheaper than a new cushion and the cushion may last longer. Anyone have experience with this product?

That's what I've been told by the VA as well. Actually, I don't see any reason to spend all that money on a whole new mask when the only thing that need to be replaced are the cushions about once every month or two. Buying the whole mask is like buying a new car when all you need are tires.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

I am glad you have had success. Truly!

Had a test fitting of the Quattro mask that was so very poorly done. The tech has never worn a mask. I asked. Although she knew how to fit it, she said, she was very rough. Fitted me sitting up. The mask leaked badly into my eyes. Both of them. Couldn't get it off quickly enough. I had read about the mirage fx in a review on another site, and tried it--bought it and a chin strap. When the chinstrap did not work she wanted me to go with a full face mask. I refused to deal with her, and went back to Melanie who upgraded my chinstrap for free.

A poster here has a blog about fitting the Quattro FX. I would love to have a link! I have lost it.

I had the same problem. Simple fix was a rubber band pulled over the top edge of the cushion where the tab is.

I tried valiantly with the Quattro FX but even with a Pad-A-Cheek liner, it leaked. Large leaks. Six nights out of seven, and with a new cushion, too. I guess it just didn't fit my face because it not only leaked badly, but it rode up on my face.

I ended up trying a nasal mask, the Wisp, which doesn't leak as badly and is a bit more comfortable for a side sleeper. I'm not thrilled with this one, though, because its' small and it gets stuffy with the high pressures and humidity that I need.

Hope you find a way to stop the leaks if you otherwise like the Quattro FX.
