Blondie...

Your attitude is wonderful....and you'll do well. Soon enough you'll grow to love your CPAP machine and mask.

there are some "tricks" to all this.......and I'll try to help you with a few.

Patience........It takes time...a year or so...before you conquer the process. Don't get in a hurry.
Relentless....Be relentless in your quest for knowledge about CPAP therapy. There's good info...and bad...and you'll learn how to filter out the dumb stuff.
Software....Software is absolutely essential for your good health. You cannot achieve your therapy goals without measuring tools.
Goals.....Some will disagree with me, but I urge you to strive for an average AHI under 2.5 and O2 blood saturation levels 93% or higher during sleep.
Tools....An Oximeter is the only way to know that your therapy is truly effective. I use a SPO-7500 from Turnermedical.com
Masks.....realize that you may go thru a half-dozen before you find "the one" (sorta like finding a "good" man)

Pretty soon, you'll know far more about this process than the people in your doctor's office. Read everything you can on this forum...and ask for help. The people here are fantastic....and soon enough you'll be able to help others!

Great post Gerald, I never thought about the oximeter as a guage for therapy effectiveness.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

In response, blondie, I am feeling great. I was on straight CPAP from September through most of June, and I felt much better-- although based on my machine's data and how I felt, suspected there was still room for improvement. Subsequent consultation with doctors led to another sleep study, this time with an ASV machine, and I've been on that for nearly three weeks. The numbers have been outsdanding, and I've been feeling just fantastic, really back to my old high-energy levels... I'd just about forgotten what that was like!
