Hello all,
I've been on CPAP for three months and the Smartlilnk data shows I have no apneas but still snore and persist with hypopneas. AHI has been less than 2 for quite a while.
I am not full of energy although my brain works better than it did when I was sleep deprived.
To stop snoring I first put up the pressure to 17 from 16, then I improvised a chin strap which was not adequate to the job, so I bought a chin strap.
I had the most severe tooth and jaw pain that I had ever had...I thought a couple of my teeth were trying to die so I stopped the chinstrap and went to blue tape over my mouth.
I freaked out the first night, but settled down. I have more "snores" with the tape. Is it time for a full face mask or are there other techniques to try before that purchase?
Is a snore a snore? Peg
I'm still snoring and want to fix that
Re: I'm still snoring and want to fix that
"A snore is a snore"...not necessarily, you could be rubbing the hose on something and since it makes a noise within the hose, the machine thinks its a snore. Your tooth pain is most likely from clenching and grinding your teeth, I broke three fillings within 6 months My questions to you..why did you put your pressure up? What pressure where you titrated at?

Re: I'm still snoring and want to fix that
I increased the pressure after reading a lot of posts here. It stopped the report of apneas. My titration was 16 but that coincidentally is when they woke me up to go home.
I will find a way to keep the hose from rubbing on anything. Perhaps I need a muffler to cover it?
I was a mouth breather and I've been told I talk in my sleep. That would cause a vibration in the hose too, Yes?

If 17 stopped your apneas that is good.
You can make a muffler out of fleece, just sew a tube, cut the tow out of socks and string them on, wrap a towel and use elastics to keep it on OR go the padacheeks.com and see what Karen makes for us, she is a member here with osa.
I too am a mouth breather so use a ffm. If you are talking that would seem like snores...any noise that can be conducted up the tube will do it. If you are talking are you also breathing out your mouth? If so, you are taking in therapy thru your nose and it goes right out your mouth.........check out a search on tape or polident strips .

Re: I'm still snoring and want to fix that
I've started using the blue tape but it's only been three nights. The tape appears to be intact in the morning.
I placed an order for a muffler so we'll see. I'll put towels around the hose tonight.
Thank you
