2. Instead of 46% of the families not paying federal income taxes we need to raise that number to 85%. The rich can pay for.
3. We need to give away billions more in foreign aid. The rich can pay for it.
4. We need to stop all exploration and drilling for oil plus shut down all coal fired power plants. The rich can build us windmills and solar panels.
5. We should shut down all of the farming in Cal. to save a gupy. Who cares what food will cost the rich will buy it for us.

What a great place this would be. Hell we could be like Greece where everyone is thowing rocks at each other. Come on man get with times.
ROFL!!!!

What you've described here is a liberal utopia.
Yeah, We need to punish those rotten rich. Punish them for having the audacity to work hard and be successful. We need to level the field! Class warfare, I say! Don't worry, the Government will take care of all of our needs.
Equal wealth for ALL!!!

I don't think anyone wants to see a 90% tax rate on any one but closing loopholes and a modest increase on those in the highest income/wealth levels is NOT out of line.
Correct, that is not out of line. But the reason JFK lowered taxes is because it increases revenues. The majority of Americans, including the rich, are good people who will pay their fair share. But when anyone is pushed beyond what is fair, then they look for ways to cut. It happened in the 2000's, revenue increased even though taxes were cut. That was JFK's premise: you'll get more revenue by lowering taxes.

Slinky wrote:Too much of this country's wealth is controlled by too few at the expense of too many to sustain the prosperity and glory of this country.

Other than not slaughtering the masses where are the rich of this country, that top 1% controlling 90% of the wealth, any different than the dictators and ruling classes in some of these third world countries???
^^^^^^^^This is what is out of line and why nothing gets done. The hyperbole and the attitude of demonizing American citizens and invoking class warfare. The 'rich' didn't creat the deficit. Our government did. And for our government to demonize and blame a certain sector of American citizens is deplorable.

If we need to get things done, we can do it without this hostile attitude toward people we don't like or agree with.

I can't believe you would make such a vile comparison.

Here are some examples of the richest people in the U.S.

- Bill Gates (Microsoft) - $24 billion
- Larry Ellison (Oracle) - $27 billion
- Larry Page (Google) - $15 billion
- Sergey Brin (Google) - $15 billion
- Michael Dell (Dell) - $14 billion
- Steve Ballmer (Microsoft) - $13 billion
- Jeff Bezos (Amazon) - $13 billion
- Abigail Johnson (Fidelity) - $11 billion
- James Goodnight (SAS Institute) - $7 billion

How are those people different?

- They are creating hundreds of thousands of high-paying jobs.
- They are delivering products and services that consumers love and purchase in great quantities.
- Their companies are paying hundreds of millions in local, state, and Federal taxes.
- They are being double-taxed and personally paying hundreds of millions more in income taxes.
- Their employees are using their salaries to pay hundreds of millions in local, state, and Federal taxes.
- They are making billions of dollars of investments that are providing more of the above.
- They are contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to charities each year.
- They contribute millions of hours of their employees' time to charities.
- Their employees contribute millions of dollars to charities and millions of hour of their own time.

Thank God for the people listed above!

This is still the greatest country on the planet. (But often the rhetoric stinks.)

Are their politics somewhat the same as in Georgia? A couple of weekends ago we had our 50th high school class reunion. One of the ladies moved from northern California to Dalton, GA two or three years ago. In CA she was a true conservative. She said that in GA she is now a flaming liberal, and she hasn't changed her political views one bit!

That would be expected in Dalton, GA!

Very different inbred culture in Dalton. I have done business there before. The only people they will do business with is locals who live in Dalton, belong to the country club, go to the same church, and send their kids to the same school.

I wanted to hire a great guy who lived 18 miles away in Chattanooga, but fortunately was advised that he would generate zero business in Dalton. Ended up hiring one of the Dalton insiders and it worked!

When the carpet mills were booming they hired plenty of Mexican immigrants. The city schools quickly became a majority Hispanic.

The inbred crowd moved out to the edges of the county and opened their own church schools - they did not want their kids mixing with the people they employed at their factories. http://amarillo.com/stories/110800/usn_ ... ital.shtml

The business was profitable for me but I never enjoyed meeting with the customers. They considered me an outsider and we maintained the business only because of my local "good old Dalton boy" rep. I like to do expensive entertainment of my customers but they never liked going out with me. I got tired of that quickly and sold that little part of my business to my local rep and his uncle. I am glad that I got to see that culture, but I don't want to ever see it again.

BTW, the folks in Raleigh are nothing like that. I enjoy visiting Raleigh on business about once per year.

For the record, the top 1% (in net worth) account for 34.6% -- not even close to 90%!

Are libs deceitful or just ignorant? You make the call...

I am in favor of a True Progressive Income Tax system. Tax all Progressives at 90% and leave the rest of us alone! Progressives can relieve their guilt feelings at their own expense.

No, that explains what the political thinking was at that time. Remember, JFK was from the super rich wealthy class. They were just as selfish about hanging onto their money then as they are now.

Hell, the rich are not exclusive in that regard. I mean, who isn't selfish about hanging on to their money? I don't care if it's someone with just 5 bucks in their pocket, or Warren Buffet. Everyone, and I mean everyone does everything they can to keep everything they can in their own pockets.

Of course liberals can donate all the money they want to the government. No need to wait on a law.

Let's see if they form a line.

Way too many (and their parents) were educated by government employees in government schools and don't have good sense about spending and saving money.

Protecting Your Second Amendmet Rights

Governor Johnson Calls Department Of Justice Reporting Requirement An Outrage
July 13, 2011Posted in Facebook, Gov. Gary Johnson, Liberty, Twitter0 Comments

Former New Mexico Governor, a strong gun rights advocate, objects to new reporting requirement

July 13, 2011, Santa Fe, New Mexico – Saying “New Mexico gun buyers and sellers are neither the problem nor the solution to border violence”, former New Mexico Governor and presidential candidate Gary Johnson today called on the Obama Administration to reverse its decision to require border state gun stores to report purchases of two or more of certain types of rifles.

Under the new requirement, announced Monday by the Department of Justice, gun dealers in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas will be required to report purchases of two or more of some types of rifles by the same person in a five-day span.

In a statement released today, Johnson, who served two terms as New Mexico’s governor, said, “This is the same Department of Justice that thought it was a good plan to intentionally allow hundreds of firearms to be smuggled into Mexico in a disastrous effort to somehow follow the trail of those guns to the bad guys. Now, the DOJ’s plan to address gun trafficking is to require law-abiding citizens in border states to be reported and entered into a federal database for buying perfectly legal rifles from licensed dealers.

“Not only will this requirement do absolutely nothing to curb violence on either side of the border, it is yet another unacceptable infringement on fundamental 2nd Amendment rights. It is an outrage that this Administration is using border violence as an excuse to add the names of more law-abiding gun owners to their database. The President and his Attorney General need to get off the backs of American gun owners, and focus on policies that will actually work to stop border violence – without eroding basic constitutional rights. If we want to reduce violence along the border with Mexico we need to deal with the real cause, and that would be drug prohibition. Let’s legalize marijuana and we would see a 75% drop in border violence overnight.

If you guys can get rid of your long held conservative Republican mindset and vote for an honest patriot like Gary Johnson in the Republican Presidential primaries, you will have your gun rights protected, the fiscal health of our nation will be restored, and a lot of business-government cronies will be exposed and kicked out.

I would love to see him or someone like him get elected. While he holds those beliefs, the problem is the rest of the country and Congress. I don't mean to sound so morose, but unless there's a revolution of some type, we'll never see a truly free society as our founders wanted and intended.

Then tell all your friends about Gary. Like him on FB and share his postings. Start an email chain of your friends and send out his blogs.

Send him a little money. Even $20 helps.

By all means vote for him.

True patriots need to give up the defeatist attitude.

BTW, I know many of you conservatives vomit when you watch The Daily Show (Jon Stewart). But tonight at least watch the second half interview:
Tonight: Author Matthew Richardson discusses his book, "Guaranteed to Fail: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Debacle of Mortgage Finance."
Richardson tells a lot of truth about how poorly designed government guarantees for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac led to the debacle of mortgage finance. He speaks knowledgeably about how damaging excessive government intervention in markets is in general.

I am sure Jon is well prepared to try to discredit Richardson.

If Jon pulls anything dishonest, I will expose him on his FB account and then suffer a storm of nastiness from his clueless sycophants.
