Not entirely. It could be the case that a pressure below 6 would be better. But I agree with nanwilson -- leave it at these settings for about a week and then re-assess how things are going.archangle wrote:If you stay at 6, then you definitely know 6 is your pressure to stay at.

Re: Sleep apena misdiagnoses?
Sorry, should have said it was still at 6 when I woke. I don't know that it didn't adjust up and back down.

Your Doctor was given a copy of the Sleep Study.Alshain wrote:I just got off the phone with the records department, I can't afford to get the records either, apparently that costs $50 too.
You can get a copy from him / her for free.

Excellent post!BrianinTN wrote:Some people do obsess over it, I'm sure. But there is a big difference between obsessing and monitoring. The latter is a GOOD THING. And often, those people obsessing do so because of their poor sleep. I think telling people to asse their treatment is appropriate and correct and to ignore the data isn't very responsible. Think of the other medical analogs. Diabetes patients check their insulin at home. Hypertensive people are encouraged to use a home blood pressure monitor. Why should sleep apnea be any different?
...And even the people who might be a little obsessive would be better treated with a some respect and actually HELPFUL assistance (rather than judgment).
AND, even dr's offices may charge a copy fee for records. This is regulated on a state-by-state basis, and if so, are limits, not requirements. It doesn't hurt to call and ask...
Re: Sleep apena misdiagnoses?
No guys, the doctors office was the one who forwarded me to the hospital's record keeping. They wouldn't give it to me directly. Anyway, for right now I'm going to stick with the 'experimental' plan. I'll try the 6-10 auto titration for a week or two and see what the machine is set to in the mornings. After I pay off the current medical bills I'll look into getting what I need to do the more advanced stuff. (BTW, if your curious the MRI & EMG showed nothing. I guess that's good but I wish I knew what was wrong.).

Update time.
The machine hasn't left 6cm much, I saw it go up to 7 on a few nights but that was it. So, I thought about getting the data reader, but instead I researched the various models and I scheduled an appointment with the DME to get an S9 Elite (I liked the heated line option the most, I haven't been able to get the hose covers to work and mild humidity is like having no humidity to me). Money problems seem to be going away for now too, which is a plus.

Re: Sleep apena misdiagnoses?
Get an S9 AutoSet if at all possible. It will do everything the Elite will plus more. You can set it to manual CPAP, or set it to Auto with a small pressure range as well. It doesn't cost that much more. If you ever have pressure questions in the future, you can try it on auto and automatically check your pressure.Alshain wrote:Update time.

Don't let them scam you with an S9 Escape Auto. It needs to say "AutoSet".

Re: Sleep apena misdiagnoses?
Well, I don't think I can. My doctor doesn't 'believe' in auto-titration, so he restricts his prescriptions. I did insist upon the Elite though. The only reason I have one now is because it was a borrowed backup unit.archangle wrote:Get an S9 AutoSet if at all possible. It will do everything the Elite will plus more.
