Filter, Hose and Mask Replacement!

Post by scgtrman » Sun Jan 15, 2006 6:14 am

It is recommended and most insurance carriers provide for you to have your filter and hose replaced every month. They will also pay for a new mask every 6 to 12 months. Check with your insurance company

Also I found this neat website for those of you who are interested

My insurance company is mask every three months, headgear every six months, hose and filters two months.

I wash my hose out in vinegar water and it really stays nice and clean.

Hi Severeena,
Cleaning CPAP is sort of my new crusade. I've been using a new product that I think is wonderful. Here is a link. Let me know what you think.

To quote Johnny Goodman:
johnnygoodman wrote:On a related note, cpap.com doesn't sell CPAP cleaning products. This is because we have yet to find a product that works as well or is as kind to masks as common, off the shelf, baby shampoo. It is cheaper too.

Perhaps we should start offering baby shampoo?

White vinegar is a natural disinfectant, one of the best.

I have used it ever since I have been using my CPAP and APAP.

Tom is the one that got me started.

I am interested in the mask cleaning wipes though. If you can use them every night to clean the mask, that would be great.

Tom is using Witch Hazel to clean his face and then he also uses the Witch Hazel to clean his mask. I finally got him to stop cleaning the mask

Simple Green clean

Post by rvbcave » Sun Jan 15, 2006 6:41 pm

We have used simple green for years to Oxygen service our diving regulators. It is nice because it is not a toxic or abrasive chemical. It also has a pleasant smell. I use simple green highly diluted to clean my humidifier and mask. It works great and is cheap.

So it sounds like my Respironics CPAP could be a dual-purpose machine: with the six-foot hose, it's good for sleeping; with the 30-foot hose (available at http://www.ocean-cpap.com) you could explore the bottom of Hanauma Bay!
