Noob question about Swift FX mask

Post by wfcentral » Fri Jul 01, 2011 7:30 am

Hello, new CPAP user here. Just got diagnosed a few months ago and started CPAP 4 nights ago. I have the swift FX mask. The lady from the medical equipment store who set me up and trained me explained that the rough area in front of the mask is where the air comes out when you exhale.

I just want to confirm with other users that the air comes out at all times?!? Is this normal? I can still feel the air going in my nose so I know it's not all going out the front, just want to confirm this is normal operation.

I'm using the respironics 550p w/humidifier.

es...... there will be a constant flow of air. it may vary in pressure depending on whether you are INhaling or EXhaling, but there will always be air coming out.

Hope this helps?

I see this is your first post...... I just want to say "WELCOME" to the forum..... you have found THE BEST place on the web to come and ask questions and get support when you need it. These folks are AWESOME and will help you in any way they can.

Take care and good luck in your treatment.

Oh I'm so glad you posted this question! I was wondering the same thing! I was worried I was doing doing something right. It felt weird to have that much air coming out that vent (AT ALL TIMES)...but glad to hear it's normal!

It is normal and it necessary for CO2 to get out of the mask..
