Orginally yep, I was born in England but left at the age of 23.

So where do you get your distilled water in the UK?

boots will special order you a bottle of purified water for 4 quid a pop.
i can't find distilled anywhere. Ionized water is around for car batteries and irons but you don't want to use that.

Distillation is a process by which water is boiled until vapor is produced. This vapor is collected and cooled until it returns to a liquid state. Because minerals are too heavy to be carried by the vapor, the resulting water is completely free of additives.

Purified water denotes a process by which contaminants and/or minerals have been removed from any water source. It could be tap water which has been forced through a charcoal filter or water treated with ultraviolet light at the grocery store. The designation 'purified' can be applied rather broadly, so a consumer should not be swayed by its use on a label alone.

Distilled water is by definition purified.

I will be sleeping in the UK saturday night, i have the Bells Purified Water from boots. I'll see how it goes.

The discarded water from a tumble dryer is distilled but DON'T use it unless you want to breathe in fabric conditioner flavours!!

Have you considered drinking mineral water?

I do not know what you have for water over there, but water treated by RO (reverse osmosis) or Deionized water will work the same as distilled.

In the late 60s, as a lad in the USAF, I spent a great year and a half stationed at RAF Alconbury near Huntingdon.

I had a great time, met a lot of my wonderful British "cousins", and learned a bit about the other "football". (Also saw some cool things on the telly and listened to the wireless all the time.) I still remember zooming around the English countryside in my Morris Mini, and I wish there were bars here in California that are like some pubs were there. (Not that I visit bars all that much.)

Interestingly, I'm sure that I had serious OSA, even back then.

Sorry this doesn't help you, as you are surely looking for some English folks with whom to correspond, but I couldn't resist a quick reminisce.

Cheers!
