My new CPAP and Insomnia blog--UPDATE: Comments are LIVE

Post by robysue » Tue Jun 21, 2011 12:26 pm

Just a quick post before I bike home to try to enslave my son into moving bedroom furniture around in our house.

I'm proud and happy to announce that I've finally gotten around to starting a real blog about my Adventures in Hosehead Land. The whole reason for starting the blog was to have a place to stash that long essay I wrote at JanKnitz's suggestion on all the things I've learned (many the hard way) about combating CPAP-induced or enhanced insomnia.

Right now the blog is pretty minimal: That's the only content actually. But I'd love to get some feedback on whether the blog looks inviting and what of all the kinds of things that I tend to post over and over about the data numbers and their meaning might be useful to gather up and turn into something I can just link to from here instead of retyping or copying and pasting all the time. And what I'm hoping is that if others see posts from folks who you think might profit from reading my Taming the CPAP-induced Insomnia Monster essay, that you can provide the link for them instead of simply telling them I'll show up soon. (I hope I will, but I do think I miss some of the "I can't sleep with the mask"posts.)

There are a few things that I know I need to clean up: There's some "padding" issues with how the blog-post backgrounds aren't quite where I want them and there's at least one, maybe two really bad font choices that I'll fix. If you do wander over to take a gander, please be kind enough to leave a comment about what you think I should add or fix on the page.

I'll also need to udate my sig over here so that the web-link is in it.

For now:
The blog itself is at http://adventures-in-hosehead-land.blogspot.com/
And Taming the CPAP-Induced Insomnia Monster is at http://adventures-in-hosehead-land.blog ... er_19.html

Quick update:

Comments to the blog are now working correctly (I hope). The sidebar on the CPAP & Insomnia page is not for some reason.

I hope to be adding some additional useful stuff sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Things I'm thinking about based on the posts I keep adding here include:

A detailed tutorial for the S9 data similar to the one JanKnitz wrote for Encore Viewer since I've written a bunch of those posts with good response from the readers.

A general intro to the mathematics and definitions of all the things like the AHI and 90% (95%) figures and how those 7-day and 30-day averages don't tell you anything very detailed about last night's figures because I've written a bunch of those posts too with good reader response.

Any other things people have noticed about which of my posts tend to be both useful and frequent on?

Thanks,
robysue
