PR System One Heated Humidifier

Post by louspeachy » Wed Jun 15, 2011 7:10 am

Has anyone else noticed that this humidifier doesn't hold a lot of water? If I ran it on 5, I am afraid it would run out before morning.

Unless you live in a very dry environment, I suspect there is something wrong ( ie you are mouth breathing or your machine is not working correctly). We have moderate relative humidity here, and when running my humidifier in default mode (as opposed to classic mode) I can go a WEEK on one tank of water set to 2. Even in classic mode set at 5, I have plenty of water left in the morning.

Because I use an oral mask, I run a room humidifier all night and have my Philip humidifier set to 5 on the System One.
I don't run out unless I sleep in quite late ( 9 to 10 hours ). At 6 - 7 hours, there is always water left in the morning.

I am a mouth breather. That makes a difference?

It shouldn't affect it much unless you have air leaks.

Mouth breathers with full face masks do tend to need more humidity though, so you will tend to set the humidifier higher, which will make it use more water.

Different masks have different intentional leak rates, which will affect water usage as well.

Dry room air makes you use more water as well. I presume the air conditioning is running a lot in Houston, so that can make the air dry, too.
