I upgraded myself to an S9 Autoset as I was going on a weight loss program and wanted to make sure one fixed pressure didn't wreck my efforts,
as weight changes are said to alter pressure requirements.
I am happy with either, and I have a great back-up.
I don't know why I was given the Elite VS the Autoset S9. I too am in the process of losing weight. (I'm a T2 diabetic as well.) Do you think I should ask for an Autoset when I go in to the DME tomorrow? I understand the Autoset can also be set to "manual" for the time being if that's what the doctor wants.
My insurance is footing the bill 100%. Plus, I am the type of person that strives to know more about my treatment and devices than the glorified high school graduates working at the DME company. I have no problem walking in tomorrow morning and saying, "I would like to exchange the Elite for the Autoset" and you can bet I will not take no for an answer.
An important part of my research involves people of this forum. So, thank you all.
If so just ask the DME to swap your S8 Elite flow generator section only with an S9 Autoset flow generator section b/c the the rest fits both. If you're successful then the S9 Autoset that you'll have can run on either CPAP mode (as the Elite is) or at Auto-PAP mode. It should make no diff to your Doc.

Hi ---I would def. switch to the Autoset S9. I too am in the process of losing weight. I'm a Type 2 diabetic along with an underproducing thyroid. I got the Auto Set 9--it will adjust the pressure to what my needs are. I started CPAP back in 2007 at a pressure of "7". Just at the end of last year I had a new titration sleep study done and they raised the pressure to "8". However; now on the Auto set --they set it for a range from 4 to 10. I spend most of my night at 9.2--LOL! I sleep so good now --it is amazing how the auto pressure can really make a difference in your life. I lost 31.5 pounds so far too --Yay me!!!

Anyway, I'm wondering if there are any ResMed S9 Elite users out there, and if so, what is your experience with it (Pros and Cons) and tips or suggestions. Thanks.
I also just got the S9 Elite! Trying it with the Mirage FX for the first time tonight.
Great. Can you let me know (tomorrow morning if possible) how the FX worked for you tonight? I'm going in tomorrow morning to choose a new mask and I'm leaning towards the FX. Thanks a bunch
Sorry for the late reply. Anyway, the first night with the S9 was great and actually had my best AHI reading since doing CPAP. I really like the size and feel of the Mirage FX but as I mentioned in another post, I had a hard time fitting the mask to minimize the leaks. I had to really tighten the straps which I never had to do with the Activa LT. Since this was my first crack at it, I am sure I will find the right fit given time.
Please share your experience as well.

Yay, indeed!
I have been using an iPhone app called LoseIt! for portion control and tracking of calories and exercise. The plan is to lose 100 pounds. 8 down, 92 to go.

I just used the elite 9 for the first time. I now have a pretty severe cough and nasal infection. I'm already ready to throw it across the room. I wonder why the doctor/ salesman did such a hard sell pitch against the autoset...because he had so many machines without it? I don't see how to adjust the temperature. Throat and sinus irritation is intense, Any advice from anyone?

Had my one month check up. Dr. authorized an autoset S9 and was puzzled as to why I did not get the Autoset from the start since it can be operated in "manual mode." I've been using the autoset for a week now and it works great.
VVV, I would go back to the sales person or whoever and insist on an autoset replacement at no charge.
Hang in there. It gets better.

Intended for Chuck Wintner?
I am happy with my two home machines and travel machine for the time being.

Using the S9 Elite vs the S0 Autoset would have no bearing on your problems. The S9 Elite is a Top of the Line Machine.
