I'm wondering if the C-Flex is the issue. I'll try that but I really like the C-Flex option. It helped me get thru the first couple weeks. And I did have the C-Flex enabled on the other machine and sound was not an issue.

First, congrats on getting the DME to switch the machine by having the courage to stand up to their silence.

Second, a possible cause of the noticeable difference in noise level might be the manufacturing dates of the new machines. If the DME routinely sets folks up with DS250 (S1 PLUS) machines, I'm willing to bet that it was a machine that was recently manufactured, had a nice backlit LCD, and was running firmware 2.0*. But there's just a chance that the new DS450 (S1 PRO) was manufactured much earlier and has been sitting on the shelf for a while or may even be a refurbished machine. The early S1's (manufactured prior to about December 2010) are rumored to be more noisy than the later models.

So check out the firmware version and the manufacture date for the new machine.

Robysue - That is EXACTLY what my DME told me. They said all they have on their shelf right now is the "older" version of the DS450. It was the "newer" version of the DS250 that I originally had. My DME said they would order the newer version of the DS450 and I should receive it the middle of next week. In the meantime I am going to get the quieter DS250 back or deal with this loud DS450. I have not decided. I'm too happy with my DME and am shopping around for another.

Glad I was able to diagnose that problem for you.

My advice is to make due with the noisier DS450 and hold the DME to their promise of getting you a new one. If you let them give you the DS250 back they may decide you don't really want a DS450 after all.

Best of luck
