How to fix leak with Quattro FX.

Post by DougVK » Fri May 20, 2011 12:58 am

I have a Quattro FX with significant leaks it seem. According to the data for the first night at a pressure of 12 there was around 49 L/Min for leaks. The book says the amount the max is venting should only be 41 L/Min. Meaning I have a leak of 8 L/Min at a pressure of 12. The amount should be ZERO. What can I do to fix this problem.

Where are you getting this information? Which machine are you using? Software or LED screen?

Sounds like Respironics machine report. Rarely is there a "zero" with them. There is always a little variable even between same masks. 8 L/min leak is quite acceptable if you are using Respironics machine especially with full face mask. Heck even with my nasal pillow masks I have had worse and it still be fine. The baseline that the machines use isn't exact but only a close estimate. There will always be variables. I have had reports where it says total Leak was less than what my intentional vent rate is. Go figure that one. Unless leak is disturbing you for some reason, it is quite acceptable if this is off Respironics machine.

Best thing to do is look at the leak line on the report graph and see if it is nice and straight or if it has wild fluctuations.

If you are using ResMed machine, disregard all of the above because their reporting is different. All leak is excess leak and of course way over the 24 L/min that ResMed says leak needs to be less than.

Please take the time to add your equipment to your Profile so we don't have to ask what you are using each time.
