Resmed Auto Spirit

Post by needsleep » Wed Dec 29, 2004 5:36 pm

I am thinking of buying a Resmed Auto Spirit. What kind of data will this record for me? Will I need additional software to access it?

The Spirit will record apneas, Hypopneas, centrals. You need the software.
You can get everything cpap, mask, software, humidifier for about $1000.
You may want to wait for their new S-8 expected to be out in a few months. It is reported to be much smaller than the spirit.

Cheers,

Chris

Chris,

Are you certain the Spirit records centrals? If so, how are they displayed? I have a Spirit with a ResLink, and so far I've only seen it record the following:

Apnea
Hypopnea
Snore
Leak
SpO2
Pulse
Pressure
Minute ventilation
AHI
Flattening

What I'd really like to knowl is how to get it to display Night Profile.

Rob

You're correct Spiritus, I may be thinking of the program for the 420e. It indicates centrals as Apneas+CA rdiac oscillations. I may be wrong but wouldn't the relationship between pulse and O2 give the same information. Yea I'm wrong

You have that expensive $700 ? clinition setup for your spirit don't you.. I cant help you with that since I'm not made of money, YET. I can only afford the poor guy program..Tells you just enough to make you think you're an expert...LOL...

My Spirit is supposed to be returned today from Resmed Been gone for over a month

Just a suggestion to all. If you can afford a spare get one because its no fun being without the old hose.

Happy New Year Hoseheads

I have the Autoset Spirit. I tried to order the data cable, but was told I would need a prescription which I will get from my doc soon.

You can get some of the data by going into the clinical menu. Press right and down at the same time for three seconds. That gives me total usage, apneas and hypopneas. That's enough to tell me how I'm doing.

Hi Sleepyguy,

When you said you tried to order the download cable for your Spirit but were told you had to have a prescription from your doctor, were you trying to get it from a local bricks-and-mortar DME?

I don't think a prescription is required to buy the Autoscan software you'll need (along with that cable) to access data from your Spirit....at least no prescription from the online stores like cpap.com.

If you're trying to buy it from a local home health care store, is it because insurance would pay for it if the doctor prescribes the software and cable as opposed to your just buying it online? Does insurance pay for data software?

You get the following from the clinical menue of the Spirit by pressing center arrow and rt. key together for 3 seconds: Then results, Effacacy data:
Pressure
leak
AHI
AI
HI

You need the software & cable to go further.

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks chrisp! I'd forgotten you can get those results from the clinical menu on the Spirit. I was thinking about the software generated graphs. Very cool.

I tried to order from cpapman.com. I was told that a prescription for the software would be necessary.

That was your mistake, try cpap.com, you'll have better luck.
