Swift FX Nasal Pillow Surgery?

Post by Mike Pasquinel » Tue May 17, 2011 6:09 pm

Hi all,

I'm caught between pillow sizes on my Swift FX. I really want the larger holes of the Large but the medium pillows are the better fit and more comfortable. Has anyone tried to enlarge the holes on the pillows? Am I crazy for wanting to do this?

Thanks!

While we're Frankensteining, I'd like to put my order in for a small on one side and an extra small on the other. . . .

If you search for "Lab rat fixes" you will see that some people cut away a small part of the cone shapped swift FX pillow (actually I think they did it with a Swift LT pillow) and replaced it with a Breeze nasal pillow that fit better. The added benefit is that the Breeze pillows are sturdier and last longer. You buy them in pairs but they separate and you can get nasal pillows (softer) or "cannulas" which are firmer and meant to fit more inside the nose.

That might get you what you want--a larger opening without compromising the integrity of the nasal pillow. The pillows are so soft and flimsy to begin with that just making a bigger opening may leave you with no structure to seal the pillow. But reinforcing with a Breeze pillow would accomodate for that.
