Re: Swift FX Nasal Pillow - mask leak

The machine and software don't know exactly which mask you use. The baseline is at best, close enough, I suppose.

I have seen the same thing. At my pressure the intentional vent rate is 35 L/min or so. I often have Total Leak reports where there is zero leak shown on graph and the overall average is 25 to 28 L/min with a nice straight line.

If I change the software to report Unintentional leak it will show simply 0.0 average leak and baseline is at zero mark.
I prefer to look at the reports this way.

Well, large leak is basically beyond the threshold that the machine can compensate for....so even if it doesn't show large leak, you might be leaking enough to lose full benefit.

I had trouble adjusting to the Swift FX, because it felt like it pulled up on the bottom of nose a lot...but, I thought I had adjusted. And, no large leaks were recorded. Though I did notice that the leak line was kind of bumpy.

Apparently, during certain sleep stages it would leak more and disrupt the stage and I'd adjust...and not know.... Except that it was the Swift FX that I was wearing when I had a sleep study recently.

I tried the golife recently, but couldn't get it to go for me. Guess I'll just have to stick with the ComfortLite 2, except that summer is coming and the increased ambient humidity and the klingon headgear doesn't work too well for me. Probably go with nasal mask....but my provider doesn't have the Mirage FX in yet. If I hadn't learned recently about why I did the way I did in my sleep study...I might have gone back to the Swift FX....

I am at the time where insurance would let me have a new mask..... though they probably won't go for buying me an Ultra Mirage II and a Mirage ??? (I forget, either Micro or Activa)...and combining the two to get the mask I was using. Hoping the Mirage FX Wide is actually wide enough to fit me. Currently they haven't made a mask since the Ultra Mirage II that is wide enough to fit me, but the ones after are quieter....

The Dreamer.
