Re: Trouble Sleeping Next to Someone Using CPAP
Some here have had luck taping a thin layer of medical gauze loosely over the vent, so it diffuses the blast but doesn't restrict it. Good luck, I know I hate it when it bounces back at me.kbell wrote:OMG,my husband has just started using his this week and it is not the noise that is keeping me awake...generally I can sleep through most noises. It is the hurricane blowing in my face once the machine has reached a higher pressure. It is horrendous, I end up with a freezing face, wind, and also a headache the next day.
Can someone please suggest something other than a pillow between us...

1. Consider switching sides of the bed so you face away from each other, instead of toward each other. "Spooning" is nice, as long as he is in front.OMG,my husband has just started using his this week and it is not the noise that is keeping me awake...generally I can sleep through most noises. 2. Some masks are better at diffusing the air than others. The Swift FX, for example, is built so it almost guarantees it will blow on someone . but hanging the hose points the vent in the other direction (up toward the ceiling instead of down to bounce off the bedding) and the problem is (mostly) solved. So he could try other masks, or try hanging the hose (this works best when the vent is on the "elbow" instead of around the connection to the mask itself).

I find it so much easier to sleep next to my husband with his CPAP machine than his horrible snoring.
Depending on the mask sometimes you can change the direction of the air vent. I pull the tube on my PR Comfort gel over my head and have it velcroed there. It makes the air vent down and not out. May be helpful for you too.

Re: Trouble Sleeping Next to Someone Using CPAP
If anybody is looking for white noise you should check out the app store on your phone for a white noise generator. I know the android market has many free ones available. These generators are really useful because you have many sound options including rain, static, waves, white noise, fan, rainforest etc. The one I personally use is https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... noise.lite. These will eat up your battery life so make sure you have your phone plugged in if you're going to use it overnight.
If you don't have a phone that supports these there are several generators you can access with your computer. The ones I use are simply noise which is a white noise generator(http://www.simplynoise.com/) and rainy mood which mimics a thunderstorm (http://www.rainymood.com/). These are great when you need focus or drown out other sounds. I use them all the time when I have to work or do homework.

It doesn't have to be on your night stand necessarily. If it's in the same room you should be good. The beauty with white noise is being able to crank up the volume without it sounding too loud.LSAT wrote:Sure...just put your computer on the nightstand next to your CPAP...soul_power wrote:
