New Sleep Apnea Doctor

Post by Severeena » Tue Jan 03, 2006 8:59 pm

I was really surprised with my Sleep Apnea doctor today. He is fantastic. Young good looking and quite knowledgable.

I told him I forgot my log book on my sleep apnea that I record from my APAP. He was surprised that I was doing this.

I told him I was having trouble sleeping and he prescribed something that really helps me get sleepy and that is Neurontin. He even put me back on Requip for my RLS.

I told him what I upped my starting pressure to 10 and he said that is a good pressure.

He said he wanted to see me in one month and if my sleeping had not gotten any better, I would be going in for another sleep study.

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my new doctor and he is my husband's Sleep Apnea doctor.

Severeena...

You crack me up when you list young and good-looking before you say your doctor is knowledgable!

But seriously, I'm glad your appointment went so well. He does sound young, good-looking AND knowledgable, lol....

Good looking doc

Post by tomjax » Tue Jan 03, 2006 10:55 pm

WOW- Amazing criteria for selecting a doctor!!

Good looking! Just how are looks related to competency??
Heaven forbid I had to have an ugly doc save my life!

Neurontin for sleep? imiginative first choicwe!!
Forgot your sleep log and he did not suggest you bring it back for him to review?

He said 10 was a GOOD PRESSURE?? Good for what??
How about a pressure of 6 or 12 or 18 ??? What are those pressures good for?

But he is cute so what does pressure have to do with it.
But the clincher- He said if your sleep had not gotten any better, you would be going in for another sleep study???????????

Why would he not be more interested in your past months sleep data from your APAP?
But he is cute

Johnny, Can we start a thread for the dumbest posts of the day/week/month?
When I had my pharnacy, I always kept questions to try to decide such.

I remember one year the award went to a MAN who was looking for something for his vaginitis- true story.

I forgot to mention he asked me where I got my APAP and I told him yahoo auctions and I also mentioned cpap.com as a good place for machines and how reasonable the prices are.

He was glad for the information I gave him because this will help some of his other patients.

Well I am glad that your new doctor was so nice and that he is willing to work with you. And the clincher, he doesn't hate autopaps.

I really hope that he can help you so you can start getting better rest and treatment sooner than later.

God bless
Chelle

He asked me what my starting pressure was since I was on the CPAP, I told him I was no longer using the CPAP and using the APAP and I upped my starting pressure to 10. He was interested in knowing what my old starting pressure was as well. I told him.
I will be seeing my doctor in Feb. so I will definitely take my log with me.

Yes Chelle I am lucky to have him.
