I had a problem with my Spirit at one time and the machine lights turned on. Found out that the machine air filter was plugged.

If the display stays on but the GK420e stops blowing air, the machine is malfunctioning. You need to get it check out--contact the vendor and have it fixed under warranty.

As for power outages (which doesn't sound like the case here), two solutions I use are (1) plug CPAP (not humidifier) into a UPS (uninterruptible power supply--sold in computer stores, etc.), and (2) a power-off alarm, bought at Radio Shack, which is plugs into the mains and had a battery that powers an alarm that goes off if the mains power ceases--I use this when in hotel rooms, etc., where I do not have the UPS.
