Not Sure I Can Handle All These Suprises !!

Post by Slinky » Thu May 05, 2011 1:41 pm

I received cpap.com's "This Is What We Tell Our Family" mailing today and used the Compare Charts to see what bi-level PAPs have advanced data tracking. My interest was the auto bi-level comparisons. Under the software features all of the bi-level autos had Machine Screen Display and Optional Software listed EXCEPT the Resmed VPAP Auto 25 which was listed as only having Optional Software. THAT blew me away! The Resmed VPAP Auto 25s have BETTER and EASIER to access data via the Machine Screen Display than Respironics have EVER provided!!! I've owned both the Resmed as well as the pre-M Series and PR S1 bi-level autos so I KNOW this from personal experience!!! I e-mailed cpap.com about this as I assume they will want to correct this glaring discrepancy ASAP.

cpap.com's Adrian Devin promptly responded:
I believe what that is referring to is the fact that Resmed no longer offers the software for their machines to the general public. Only sleep labs and doctors are able to obtain Resmed software. It is not referring to the data available on the machine display. ...
Plus my sleep has been going to heck in a handbasket again despite my data not being all that bad. And I'm having problems w/waking in the morning w/nausea and LOTS of easy burping thru out a good share of the day. I don't "do" nausea well at all. I was so tired this morning I "had" to take a nap early on but I was still so queasy I couldn't stand the thought of donning my mask and turning my BPAP Auto on - so I cheated and just donned my 2L of 02 via cannula and slept like a log from 8:40 to 11:22 and wore my ConTec CMS 50D+ recording oximeter. After my nap I noticed the CMS 50D+'s batteries were flashing a low warning so did a quick download so I could change the batteries. Two and a half hours of sleep and not only absolutely no desaturations BUT my sats ran 95% or better during my entire nap. They don't run THAT good on bi-level PAP and 2L of 02 bled in!

AND I filled the gas tank for the first time on my little ole Oldsmobile Cierra wagon since gas broke the $4 a gallon mark in our area. I don't usually let it get below 1/4 tank and it was below 1/4 tank this time when I filled BUT I nearly keeled over when it took $58.72 to fill it!!!!!! The last time I filled it it was right at the 1/4 tank mark and took $41 worth.

For "frosting on the cake" I turned the TV news on and there was this blaring commercial about the "horrors" of CPAP and offering the NoMask for sale.

I don't know that my system can handle all these "surprises" so close together!!!! I think I need a good frozen margarita to hold myself together!

Hi Slinky

You keep 'em coming and you won't be worrying about Resmed, the price of gas, or TV commercials.

Make sure you leave some for morning, a hangover after a night of apneic stupor is not to be dismissed lightly. More of the same is the usual prescription from those who know but don't care

But be careful, you have enough to do without having to go to all those AA meetings

cheers

Slinky, forget all those worries and don't get carried away with the margaritas, ! there are fungi to hunt in Mi! I got a report of finds in Tecumseh, which is not far from Hell. Or maybe you need a big bottle of wine with those morels ?
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.
