Recorded as an event??

Post by Guest » Wed May 04, 2011 9:10 am

When you sort of gasp for air initially putting on the mask, is it recorded as an event? When you yawn or stretch, is this recorded as an event? When you stretch, your breathing is different.

While I have your attention, I would like help on explaining what the following figures mean off of the info on my CPAP machine:

Phone In: Therapy 832.9 Compliance VIC: Days<4 22 Days>4: 7 days 7 Periodic Breathing: 7 days 0%
Days>4 105 Check Code 49 30 days 21 30 days 2%

90% Pressure: 7 days 9.3 I would appreciate it if someone can interpret the meanings of these stats. I also would like to thank Pugsy
30 days 9.4 for telling me to set my min. pressure at 7. I went from AHI 9 to AHI 6 in about a week. I've only been on CPAP
seriously since April 11. Thank you.

I'm sorry, I forgot to log in. I put that I would automatically be logged in, but it doesn't seem to work. I also would like to apologize for the way it was typed out. I didn't do it that way originally. I guess I did it wrong.

I'd like to respond to the first question and leave the real stuff to Pugsy, et al. I use an IntelliPap by DeVilbiss and yes, it will record the cough, clearing your throat and other cute things as hypopneas. I got suspicious when I saw an event the same minute i started the machine. I then set the machine up and proved I could cause an event to be scored any time I chose. I learned from that to cut the machine on and once you have your throat cleared and your mask in place and are settled, cut the machine off and restart it - that eliminated the events that were scored at the same minute of starting treatment. I also found the machine to be more sensitive when I wore a full face mask than it appears to be when I am using a nasal interface.

I'll leave the rest of your answer to the pros.

I don't understand your numbers, especially your compliance data. Are you using your machine all night, every night?

Let me put the data down once more. Evidently the computer board isn't the same as a typewriter. I did marginal typing originally. It didn't come out the way I typed it.

Phone in:Therapy 832.9
Blower hrs 834.0
Days>4 105

Therapy hrs: 7 day 8.18
30 day 5.5

Days>4: 7 days 7
30 days 21

Periodic Breathing: 7 days 0%
30 days 2%

90% Pressure: 7 days 9.3
30 days 9.4

Thank you all. I'm sorry for the foul-ups. I do wear the mask every night.

The compliance VIC is: Days>4 22
Check code 49

I'll get it right, yet.

Disregard this, just a way to give the DME phone in compliance. Not needed.

Blower hours. Hours the machine has been on. Therapy. Hours that the machine has been on giving therapy.
Days > 4 Number days or nights that the machine has given greater than 4 hours of therapy. 4 being enough to satisfy compliance requirements.
You can disregard these numbers also
Gabe wrote: Therapy hrs: 7 day 8.18

7 day and 30 day average therapy hours. Last 7 days you are using the machine an average of a little over 8 hours whereas in the 30 day average it was only 5.5. hours a night. So you are using the machine more. That is good.
Gabe wrote: Periodic Breathing: 7 days 0%
30 days 2%
Percentage of the night spent in periodic breathing. Not much time and that is good. We can all have a little from time to time. PB is just a special breathing rhythm. Unless the percentage gets much, much higher nothing to worry about.

for 90% of the time your pressure has been at 9.4 cm or less. This is good. Seems stable.

Give 7 cm minimum one more week. Disregard the idiot at the DME. If 7 day AHI is still 6 after another week, consider an increase in the minimum to 7.5 cm and give it another week.
