Is a Zero AHI Possible?

Post by cortez356 » Mon May 02, 2011 8:59 pm

Lately I have been having very good AHI results. Most nights are .4gg or less. Had a few .1,s. Last night it was zero. My leak rate was great as well. I did see my pressure go up at times so the machine is working. Can this be true?? I doubt that an AHI of zero does anything more for my body than .4 but I was just wondering.

I have a Zero AHI every now and then, and mine hasn't yet been above 0.9. I don't think it's all that unusual, but still too new at this to comment with any certainty.

Cheers,

Bob, not sure if you were aware that the S9 has been reported to stop recording data if you leave on too long. To be on the safe side, reset the machine every week or so by disconnecting and reconnecting the power cable.

I have had my S9 machine for 11 months, and during that period I have had a total of 19 zero-AHI nights. I had two zero-AHI nights back-to-back once, but all the others have been spaced out over the 11 months. My AHI's usually around 0.5, but it does vary a bit from 0 to 1.0. Almost all my events are recorded as central apneas. Obstructive apneas and hypopneas are rare for me with the S9.

Top Stuff!

I've occasionally hit zero, but most times I get .1 (feel good) to 0.5 (don't feel good next day). Worst was about 1.x, but most times it's under 0.5

Well done and may many more zeroes come your way!

I just got the S9, but I don't have the software to download, because I don't have a computer at home. How does the S9 differentiate between an OSA event and central event? It knows you have stopped breathing, but how can it tell which is which?

After 4 seconds of not breathing, it sends little pulses of air to see if the airway is open.

Thanks for the replies. I know the machine was working and recording as all he other data is there. I don't "reset" the machine as we have frequent power failures. Thanks
