Me and my TENS - Oh Sweet Sleep!

Post by kteague » Sun May 01, 2011 9:21 am

Just a bit of an update on me and my TENS Unit usage. Haven't yet had another sleep study with using the TENS (can't afford the co-pay and deductible not yet met). But I must be FINALLY catching up on my sleep since starting this experiment about 6 months ago, because it has dawned on me today that how I wake up feels - - - different.

I quit placing the electrodes in an X configuration. For a few weeks now I've put the electrodes from each lead wire at the same level a few inches off center on either side of the lower back/buttocks. One set I put so low I can almost sit on them, the other set just above them. Since the change, on most nights I've reached another level of sleep quality. Last night I slept 9 hours, with one potty break and a brief wakeup when the neighbors were leaving this morning. Had planned on getting up earlier, as I usually wake up sooner, but I was sleeping too good. But what felt different was that I generally wake up and know it's going to be a lazy day because I just don't feel good enough to do much of anything. My leisure is not pleasure, just a stuck-in-low-gear type feeling most of the time. But today I woke up thinking I'm not gonna do much of anything today, and I'm gonna ENJOY it! Yeah, that's right!

I think I've been watching my grandson's YouTube video of The Lazy Song too much, cause I woke up this morning singing it. Looking forward to my day.

kteague, what kind of TENS unit are you using? I'm thinking about purchasing one for my lower back (spondylolisthesis). Sciatica is not fun to deal with.

Thanks all for your well wishes and support, and RG, for your comments on my grandson's video.

Kempo, mine is an Empi Select - several years old. Got it back when my back was at its worst. I think there are more sophisticated models that have more options, but I'm not knowledgeable beyond this one.

It's been a good day, and now I'm ready to call it a day.

Kathy

Hey RG, my grandson just made it through another round of auditions for a project he's been pursuing. That video of The Lazy Song was one included on his resume'. I told him of your compliment. Thanks for you support.

Still sleeping good!

Kathy

Kathy, I've watched many of your grandson's videos. He's cute as a button and sings like an angel. Don't tell him I said that, he will be embarrassed. Are the young men who play guitar with him his brothers?

The guy on the guitar is one of his brothers, who is their all-round tech guy and producer. He prefers the background with writing and producing and keeping up the websites. I'll tell Tae what you said - you know we grandmas are expected to embarrass them.
