My OSA events on steroids

Post by Pugsy » Sat Apr 30, 2011 7:36 am

Those of you that don't know my history I am one of those with a huge difference in events in REM stage sleep (53 AHI) and Non Rem stage sleep (11 AHI). I use APAP because pressure needs sometimes can vary quite a bit for me. 10 cm minimum keeps the bulk of the run of the mill events at bay. Sometimes rarely get much above the minimum, sometimes pressure goes way up there.

Couple nights ago I must have had some super duper events (they must be on steroids)

Thought I would share this report. Shows my APAP doing its job. Bear in mind that pressure variations never have bothered me. So this works well for me and my situation. Doesn't mean it works well for everyone. We are all unique and have the potential to have other needs.

I had no idea this was going on. Slept just fine. No leaks to speak of, so can't blame the pressure increase on leaks. Might have been responding to the couple ofsnores but other nights I have a few snores and pressure doesn't go up. I don't try to dissect minute by minute. Not that important to me anymore. It is enough to know that overall things went well, I slept fine and I can't do anything about the past anyway. It closely relates to REM stage sleep time lines, so maybe REM events. No way to know for sure, but then as long as the bulk of the events are prevented, I am doing well.

My graphs look like those peaks almost all the time, but my AHI generally stays around 0.5. My machine is definitely doing it's job!

Yep, they do get a workout sometimes. When I first started therapy I had a lot of those peaks but they seem to have settled down and it is rare that I have one of that magnitude anymore. Normally my AHI is less than 1 now but every now and then, I get this weird stuff.
