Recording options on data card

Post by Sireneh » Thu Apr 28, 2011 2:08 pm

Any idea why my DME would have set my machine to NOT record AHI, Hypopneas or (something else)? I just noticed that last night when I was looking at all the settings.

Also, my machine starts at 7.0 (I just bumped that up from 6.0 and then 6.5) and the settings indicate a 3 cm/h jump (I think that's what it means... know what I'm talking about?) So I guess after it ramps up it sits at 10 and waits for events to chase? Or what?

No, but you should be able to change that fairly easily in the provider setup menu. Maybe that is the default setting and they did not enable the on-screen display of the AHI numbers, etc.

Do you mean your CPAPmin is 10 and your ramp starts at 7 with a ramp time of 1 hr? I thought 45 minutes was the max ramp time on your machine.

I did change the setting this morning so I'll check tomorrow. You mean I'll be able to see that stuff on the display without having to upload card data?

As for the ramp thing, my auto min is 7. A-Flex is 3. Ramp time reads 0:00. I am confused. If there are links to articles or threads that might help me understand the workings of this thing, please send them my way!

Yes, if a setting in the provider setup menu is changed, you should be able to see the AHI and other numbers from the LCD screen without uploading your data. Go to:

http://www.apneaboard.com/PR-System-One ... -Setup.htm

And request via email the clinicians manual for help on changing that setting.

Okay, so your CPAPmin is 7 and you have no ramp set up. The A-Flex reduces the pressure on exhalation to make it easier to breath out. Therefore, currently your machine will start at 7 cm and increase pressure as you need it throughout the night, never going below 7 cm except on exhalation.

Only data available on screen are the 7 and 30 day AHI average and percentage of time in Total leak. Big whoopie.

That's it. Not all that helpful. Doesn't break down the AHI even to a single night much less by events.
Not one of Respironics finest moments in my opinion but that's the way they have done it for years and they didn't ask me what I thought.

For any worthwhile data you will need to upload from the SD card and use software or the Onkor online analyzer.

If that's not the default, your DME probably set it that way because they don't care about your therapy except as it impacts their ability to bill your insurance. Insurance only cares about how many hours you use the machine, so why bother with all that other stuff?
