Water in machine?

Post by Jkeith » Sun Apr 17, 2011 10:23 am

Im currently on a loaner/rental machine through my dme. The dog flipped the machine upside down (i keep the machine on the floor). Water went evetywhere. The machine is running fine, ran it all night. There was a coupke of drops of water coming from the bottom of the blower side. Anything i should worry about or let my dme know about?

What brand machine is it?

Some of the new machines have the humidifier tank built in such a way that it is pretty much leak proof. Sounds like you got lucky.

Make sure the dog can't flip the machine over again.

Remove the power and humidifier and carefully try see if you can make any more water pour out of the machine. I'd try carefully tilting it to make water run back out of the humidifier port. I wouldn't try to shake it, just tilt it.

Let it run a while with no humidifier.

What manufacturer and model machine is it? Fill it in on your profile so we can help more.

If you're still worried, wrap the machine in a cloth bag like a pillowcase. Put that inside a plastic bag with some uncooked rice. That will tend to absorb moisture.

Updated my profile to what I currently have. I was supposed to be getting the updated Respironics pr system one pro this week. Hopefully when I tell them that it was tipped over they wont make a big issue about it.

I pulled the humidifier off today. There was a VERY little amount under the blower unit (on the humidifier unit where the blower sits), but I looked in the tube on the blower and it was bone dry. Infact, still had a little dust heh.

You got lucky. The M series machine doesn't have that extra protective water chamber that the PR S1 machines have.
Perhaps there wasn't much water left in the tank to spill. Usually water in the M series electronics means a fried machine....
