I'm with dan01, tomjax ('cept for waiting for creepy-crawlies! lol) and born to be mild on this. I'm using distilled water in the humidifier. I let weeks, months go by without rinsing anything out. I'm personally clean, but I don't worry about cleaning equipment that is staying quite clean anyway. Swiping the outer surface of the mask cushion or nasal pillows occasionally is sufficient, imho. Keeping skin oils cleaned off the area of a mask that has contact with the face makes for a good seal.
Ok, guys, I don't know why you all don't just follow the instructions given.
And, I'm surprised at the ones that clean their hoses in the bathroom. But, to each his own.
A footnote, I just had to replace my passover humidifier because of mold growing in it. I have had it a little over a year and I have been cleaning it with vinegar and mild detergent. I thought I would be smart and just empty the distilled water every other day, but now I am going to empty it every day as per the instructions. And, I am probably going to have to pay for it out of my pocket, because the insurance covers one every 5 years.
