Cpap sleeping pillow with mask cutouts questions
Cpap sleeping pillow with mask cutouts questions
Thanks in advance
I am new to cpap and am going back to my bed soon from my lounge chair, which I really like
But I am worried the mask may come off by tossing and turning.
So I was wondering how many people use these and what you think.
I was also considering a sleeping wedge to keep me more upright.
Thanks Larry

Welcome to the forum Larry.
Would you please go to the User Account Control (upper left under banner) then to your Profile and equipment tab and add your equipment in TEXT please. Images all look alike and require linking to image site for telling us what is being used.
Will the mask come off with tossing and turning? Maybe but it isn't as easy as you might think. I do a lot of tossing and turning and wound up doing a complete circle one night with hose wrapped completely around my neck but my mask was in place.
If sleeping with a wedge is comfortable sure won't hurt a thing to do it but don't put yourself in a potential uncomfortable situation just because you are afraid the mask will move a lot. Discomfort can mess with our sleep and after all, the reason we mask up every night is to get good sleep.

Re: Cpap sleeping pillow questions
I have a Contour pillow and it's just okay. I really like the cutout for the mask, and I do find it makes my mask more stable, especially when I'm wearing a nasal or FFM. However, I don't like the rest of the pillow all that well. It's quite small and thin. I have a short neck, and it's not easy to get my head to reach to the depression that supposedly cradles the head. I'm not convinced that it's much better than just putting my face near the edge of my usual pillow (i.e., so the mask can sort of hang off the edge).

As a side sleeper, leaning toward stomach, I invested in a Papillow, and it has helped me immensely. Not cheap, but worth it!

Re: Cpap sleeping pillow with mask cutouts questions
Larry,
I am relatively new I guess, been a hosehead going on 4 months now. Last month I purchased a Contour pillow and sprung for the thicker model (something like $80 or so). It has cutouts on both side and claims to be memory foam. Overall I am satisfied with the pillow but not as much as my memory foam pillow before. It does make side-sleeping with the mask easier (my experience at least).
Not sure if there are any "cut-out" pillows out of latex out there but I recently purchased my wife a firm latex pillow and I absolutely love that thing. Also kind of expensive but really worth it and came with a 10 year warranty as well.
